Newmarket stages the second day of its Cambridgeshire Meeting on Friday, with the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes and Group 2 Joel Stakes the headline races on the Rowley Mile. The card also includes the Group 3 Princess Royal Stakes, the Listed Rosemary Stakes and the Listed Godolphin Stakes.
Thursday’s opening day produced a first Group success for Fuel The Jet, who won the Tattersalls Stakes for trainer Tom Clover and jockey Neil Callan.
Newmarket’s second day features the Rockfel and Joel Stakes
Friday’s seven-race Newmarket programme begins with the Listed Rosemary Stakes at 1.15pm. The Group 3 Princess Royal Stakes follows at 1.50pm, before the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes for two-year-old fillies at 2.25pm and the Group 2 Joel Stakes at 3.00pm.
The Rockfel Stakes brings together a field of ten, including Wathnan Racing’s Light Of Dawn and unbeaten favourite Spirited Gesture. The Joel Stakes has seven declared runners, among them one of the talking horses of the season in Talk Of New York. Four runners are also declared for the Listed Godolphin Stakes at 3.35pm.

Fuel The Jet takes Thursday’s Tattersalls Stakes
Fuel The Jet landed Thursday’s Group 3 Tattersalls Stakes over seven furlongs, coming from the rear of the field under Callan to score by three-quarters of a length from Notable Dream. Mezzo Forte was a length further back in third.
The two-year-old, trained by Clover, was winning for the third time from five starts and followed his Doncaster nursery success with a first Group-race victory. Read the full Tattersalls Stakes result report.
Browne McMonagle faces Arc fitness race
Dylan Browne McMonagle is working to be fit for next weekend’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe after his fall at Bellewstown. Joseph O’Brien is waiting on the jockey’s recovery before confirming whether he can resume his partnership with Thundering On at ParisLongchamp.

Middle Park field takes shape for Saturday
Saturday’s Group 1 Tattersalls Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket has a final field of seven after Great Barrier Reef was not declared. Aidan O’Brien is represented by Marco Polo and Confucius, while Push The Boat Out and Inner City Blues are among the other runners set for the six-furlong race.
