ITV Racing has eight live races on Saturday 7 November, split between Doncaster and Aintree. The November Handicap, the traditional end of the Flat turf season, headlines at Doncaster, where last year’s winner Castle Cove and the 2024 winner Lord Melbourne both run again. Aintree stages two Grade 2s moved from Wincanton, the new Molyneux Hurdle and the Rising Stars Novices’ Chase.
We’ve gone back through the last ten runnings of each ITV race to pull out the trends worth knowing before you bet. Several races have moved course or were run elsewhere in some years, and we say so where it matters. The going is Soft at Doncaster and Good to Soft at Aintree.

1.15pm Aintree – Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Chase (Class 3)
The ITV coverage starts with a two-mile Class 3 handicap chase on the Mildmay course. This race has been run under the same conditions at the November meeting every year since 2017, which gives us nine years of verified results.
- Short prices: 4 of the last 9 favourites have won, and 8 of the 9 winners started 6/1 or shorter. Yorkist (14/1 in 2018) is the only big-priced winner.
- Weight and ratings: 8 of 9 winners carried 11st 4lb or more, and 7 of 9 were rated 128–133. Only Sans Bruit and Coup De Coeur (both 130, 12st) fit that ratings band this year.
- Top-rated record: the highest-rated runner has won 4 of the last 9, including the last two runnings.
- Age: 7- and 8-year-olds have won 5 of the last 9. Only one winner was aged 10 or older, which counts against Ballybreeze (10) and Sir Tivo (12).
- Returning runners: Javert Allen was last year’s 10/3 favourite and finished 4th; he runs off a 3lb lower mark this time. Dan Skelton (Kadastral) is the only trainer in the field to have won the race, with Yorkist in 2018.

The November Handicap is the traditional finale of the Flat turf season, and 23 runners go to post over a mile and a half. It was abandoned in 2019 and run at Newcastle in 2023, so we have nine runnings to work from. The last two winners are both back.
- Defending winners: Castle Cove (2025) runs off 100, 8lb higher than last year, and Lord Melbourne (2024) runs off 97, 7lb higher. No horse, trainer or jockey has won it twice in the last 9 runnings.

The final ITV race is a Class 2 handicap chase over two and a half miles on the Mildmay course. The comparable race was run at this meeting from 2017 to 2020 only, so these trends come from a small sample of four runnings.

- Weight and ratings: all four winners were rated 135–141 and carried between 10st 11lb and 11st 5lb. Bluey (136, 11st 5lb) and Insurrection (135, 11st 4lb) fit both. No winner carried top weight; Down Memory Lane is top-rated on 145.
- Age: 3 of the 4 winners were aged 9 or 10. Boombawn, Etalon, Hercule Du Seuil and Insurrection are all 9.
