2.15 Sandown – XCITATIONS (1.5pt win – 4/1 Bet365 + 888Sport, 7/2 generally)

XCITATIONS ran as though the outing were needed when a 26-length fifth of seven in a 2m2f handicap chase at Kempton on last month’s reappearance and can get back to winning ways in the 1m7.5f Amazing Sri Lanka Elmbridge Handicap Chase. Pam Sly’s eight-year-old has won second or third time out in each of the past three seasons and his only previous trip to Sandown resulted in a comfortable 7-1 victory off a 1lb lower mark.

3.25 Sandown – CYCLOP (1pt win – 11/2 generally)

The older he gets, the more important a recent outing is to CYCLOP. Since 2020, the David Dennis-trained 12-year-old has recorded form figures of 11136133P4111FP3 (7-16) when returned to the track within one month of his previous outing for a profit of £31.48 to a £1 level stake at SP. His trainer has an eight from 27 record in veterans’ handicap chase company (+£25.33) and the old boy was asked to come from further back than ideal when third to Good Boy Bobby (re-opposes today) at Chepstow last time.
