RIAAN was only fifth of the eight runners in a 3m1.5f maiden hurdle at Sligo last time but can be forgiven that, as he raced in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail, failed to settle and probably didn’t stay the trip. He was short-headed over today’s 2m4f trip at Gowran Park on his penultimate start and the market looks to have over-reacted to his latest effort.

SHARJAH has a strong seasonal pattern to his form, with form figures of 1F31141111 (7-10) in November/December. He won this Grade 1 contest in 2018, and again last year, and he can defy a 326-day absence at the chief expense of stablemate State Man.
