Ben Clarke won this 3m5f contest with The Galloping Bear last year and DR KANANGA might be able to get the stable double up. The ten-year-old, who is having his second run back after a wind operation, tends to come good in the second half of the peak jumps season when racing below Class 2 level, recording form figures of 31112 (3-5). The runner-up effort is easily excused – he jumped out to his left at right-handed Exeter – and while the sharp nature of today’s venue is a slight concern, he’s worth a small interest.
6.45 Chelmsford – MAYSAN (1pt win – 8/1 bet365)
MAYSAN appreciated the step up to 1m for the first time at Lingfield on his latest start where he scored by three-quarters of a length at 6-1 despite a poor low draw in stall 2 of 9 (once adjusted for the non-runner). That form was given a timely boost when the third, Epsom Faithfull, won the opener at Lingfield yesterday and the Ian Williams-trained four-year-old should have more to offer. Since the beginning of 2019, backing low-drawn (stall 1 or 2) Lingfield all-weather winners on their next outing would have found 97 winners from 348 bets (27.9% strike-rate) for a profit of £77.46 to a £1 level stake at SP, including two winners and a second from four runners for Ian Williams.
