The danger with backing in this competitive 1m Class 4 handicap is the prospect of further non-runners if the forecast rain arrives. However, I can’t resist an interest on DORA MILAJE, who very much caught the eye when making it two from two with victory at Thirsk on June 5th. The early pace was very steady that day and she did really well to score from well off the pace. She beat Terwada – second best of the hold-up horses – by almost four lengths and that one came out to score by nine lengths on his next outing. Dora Milaje lost her 100% record when a close-up third at Newmarket last time where the switch to forcing tactics – a understandable move given how the July Course favours front-runners – probably didn’t suit. On breeding, she’s better equipped to cope with the prospect of soft ground than the majority of her rivals.
