4.00 Hamilton – SLAINTE MHATH (1pt win – 9/2 generally)
Contrary to popular belief a low draw is advantageous over the 6f trip at Hamilton and the stands’ rail is rarely the place to be. Since the start of last year, had we simply bet all runners drawn in stalls 1, 2 and 3 over this course and distance, regardless of field size, we’d have won 37 of our 186 bets (19.9%) and made a huge profit of £239.43 to a £1 level stake at SP. It usually helps to race prominently as well and SLAINTE MHATH (stall 2 of 6) is taken to bounce back to winning ways after her disappointing fifth of six when even-money favourite here last time. She was poorly drawn and raced closer to the stands’ side rail than ideal that day, though was probably in need of a break after a busy spell. She’s been freshened up a near six-week layoff and looks much better value than hat-trick seeking favourite Love Lies who has yet to achieve much on the clock and is racing on slow turf for the first time.
