NAAS 3.45

DUKE OF LEGGAGH – 0.5pt e/w (50-1 bet365, 40-1 Paddy Power/Betfair)

Naas passed their 7.30am inspection but conditions are going to be incredibly testing. That’s good news for DUKE OF LEGGAGH, a winner on heavy ground at Galway on his final start last term. That was over 7f and his only other run over this trip in the mud saw him run finish a 9-1 third at 14-1, also at Galway last autumn. He’s a long way out of the handicap here but ability to handle the conditions will be of paramount importance and I like his draw in stall 10 of 10 as it could be a case of the wide the better today.

EXETER 3.52

SAMUEL JACKSON – 0.5pt e/w (11-1 William Hill, though Sky Bet’s 10-1 four places is more attractive)

SAMUEL JACKSON bombed out at Warwick last time but he’s much happier at right-handed Exeter, landing the Devon marathon over the extended 3m6f here in February 2021. The key to him is fitness and a right-handed track and he’s won three of his nine career starts this way round when he’s had at least two runs in the past three months. He returned to form with a 40-1 third over hurdles here on his penultimate start and he’s worth chancing now back at his favourite venue.
