Richard Fahey’s ROYAL COSMIC performs best after a recent outing, winning seven of her 25 starts when returned to the track within three weeks, for a profit of £18.88 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those figures include a 10-1 Fibresand win off a mark of 59 and she’s only 1lb higher on her return to Southwell.
She’s only had two runs back since wind surgery, running as though the first one were needed when mid-division at Musselburgh after a 47-day break and then finishing fourth at Newcastle after four weeks off. That Newcastle run, 17 days ago, suggests there are still races to be won with her and her yard has been in good form on the all-weather in 2021, scoring with 23 of their 124 runners (18.6% strike-rate) for a profit of £23.96 to a £1 level stake at SP.
In handicaps at Southwell only, Fahey’s strike-rate improves to 29.4% (ten winners from 34) for a profit of £16.45. There have been fortunes for Prescott’s Caribeno (evens from 9-4) but she’s still worth a very small interest at a huge price.

POPPLE was never involved from off the pace at Wolverhampton last time but he’ll be happier back on Fibresand in first-time headgear. Popple has shown ability in each of his three course starts, twice finding 5f too sharp and then not seeing out the 7f trip when fifth of 11 in December. This 6f trip should be perfect.
