Marco Botti’s CAVERN CLUB hasn’t raced on the all-weather for 13 months but has run well in both previous starts on a synthetic surface, finishing a 15-2 third from a tricky wide draw at Wolverhampton in novice company (9.4f) on his third career start, doing best of those to come from off the pace, before a 4-1 Kempton success on his handicap debut over 1m3f. The son of Ribchester added a fast-ground 1m4f Newmarket win last summer and can be forgiven a comprehensive York defeat in October when we last saw him as 1m6f/soft ground put too much emphasis on stamina. His trainer has a fine record when switching one of his runners from turf to Tapeta and he looks worth a small bet.
