Today’s deep ground will suit and he’s worth a bet to double his career tally.

The Charlie Johnston-trained WADACRE GOMEZ made all for a very comfortable success over tonight’s course and distance on his penultimate start and it’s safe to excuse his subsequent 12th of 13 finish at Newcastle as he was upped from Class 5 to Class 2 level, started at 20-1 and he made the running again, tactics that are rarely successful on the round course (distances of 1m2f or further) on the Gosforth Park Tapeta surface. The four-year-old will be suited by the return to Chelmsford – his record here now reads 311 (2-3) – with the defeat at 9-1 when the surface was standard to slow (the wins came on standard going) and he could prove hard to catch.
