DISTINGUISHED LADY, well drawn in stall 1, might be able to break her duck on her second start for Alice Haynes. The daughter of Zoustar showed promise over tonight’s 6f trip at Newmarket on her debut for Richard Hannon back on May 14th, weakening into third after being taken on for the early lead. She finished almost eight lengths back that day, but the winner (Mawj) and runner-up (Believing) are now rated 109 and 98 respectively. The fifth from that race, Charlie Appleby’s Fairy Cross, has won two of her three subsequent starts and is now rated 104. Distinguished Lady finished last under patient tactics over 5f at Beverley just two weeks later and we didn’t see her again until last month’s 16-1 12th of 14 at Leicester where she was very weak in the betting and didn’t get home over the 7f trip. She’d had wind surgery since and the return to sprinting looks a good idea. Backing all Zoustar progeny over 6f would have found nine winners from 47 bets for a profit of £18.70 and those at the head of the betting look nothing special.
