1.10 Stratford – SHAKEM UP’ARRY (1pt win – 11/8 generally)
SHAKEM UP’ARRY has a solid record on his first start each season…
Seasonal debut: 3F1U1 (2-5)
Others runs: 22042801323534 (1-14)
…the first of those seasonal debut efforts came when a 14-1 third of 16 in a Ffos Las bumper where he was beaten by a little over four lengths after running green, the fall was most unlucky as he jumped out to his left at right-handed Leicester before falling close home when in the lead and the unseat came when also in front and going well. His only non-seasonal debut win came after that unseat, so it was effectively his first run of the season. He had a wind operation over the summer and is likely to prove hard to beat. The price is nothing special but he’s worth a small interest on a quiet day.
2.45 Wolverhampton – ONE NIGHT STAND (1pt win – 12/1 Bet365, 10/1 generally)
ONE NIGHT STAND (stall 10 of 12) could have been better berthed, but I still want to take a chance on him at double-digit odds on his return to the all-weather. He did really well to finish just over four lengths behind the winner when a 10-1 tenth of 13 at Redcar last time, as he chased the very strong early pace, which duly collapsed, in a race set up for those ridden patiently. Scott Dixon’s six-year-old was a place and half a length behind fellow prominent racer Albegone who came out to record a 10-1 win at Musselburgh next time. One Night Stand scored by one and a half lengths from stall 10 of 13 on his only course outing below Class 3 level and his early speed should allow him to get a good pitch on the heels of the leaders.
