SAINT SEGAL, my antepost pick for the Grand Annual Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham festival, was quite rated high enough to get into that race and can gain compensation here. The Jane Williams-trained five-year-old has recorded form figures of 112 (2-3) since switched to fences, with the defeat by just half a length on unsuitably fast ground at Doncaster where the winner got first run. He looks well ahead of his current handicap mark of 138 and is likely to prove hard to beat.

He’s been revitalised by the reapplication of blinkers of late, causing a 28-1 upset at Southwell on March 7th and comfortably following up over tonight’s course and distance just three days later. His full record on Tapeta now stands at nine wins from 25 starts for a profit of £81.00 to a £1 level stake at SP, including two from two in the headgear.
