12.45 Wolverhampton – GEORGE RIDSDALE (1pt E/W – 7/1 generally)

GEORGE RIDSDALE was a big eyecatcher when a half-length second at Lingfield on his penultimate start, meeting trouble and doing best of those to come from off the pace in a race not run to suit. He was only fifth when the 8-11 favourite at Chelmsford next time but that was in an amateur riders’ contest in which he raced keenly after his jockey was unable to get cover from a wide draw. Both of his all-weather wins came on Tapeta (at Newcastle) and today’s track should suit.
