3.22 Newcastle – Boy De La Vis (1pt win – 7/1 generally)

Trainer Jimmy Moffatt is worth following blindly and had we backed all his runners in recent years (since the beginning of 2019) we’d have made a profit of £158.56 to the usual £1 level stake at SP. He also does extremely well at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, scoring with six of the last 21 qualifiers for a profit of £65.00, with the last two winning at 50-1 and 9-2. It was a weak Warwick bumper in which BOY DE LA VIS finished third for Robin Dickin in the spring but he’s likely to improve for the change of scenery and is worth a small interest.

6.00 Chelmsford – Sofia Cat (2pt win – 11/2 Bet365, 7/2 generally)

SOFIA CAT was too green to do herself justice on her debut when fifth of ten in a fillies’ novice contest at Windsor back in August and can get off the mark now switching to the all-weather after a break. Ralph Beckett’s Chelmsford runners who were drawn in stall 7 or lower have won 34 of their 121 bets starts (28.1% strike-rate) for a profit of £68.41 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those having their second career start were seven from 18 (39%) for a profit of £48.48 and Sofia Cat, who has a useful draw in stall 5, is likely to know a lot more this evening.
