BONZA BOY caught the eye from off the pace when a 250-1 fourth of 15 at Exeter on his hurdles debut last December and ran two more eyecatchers under similarly patient tactics after that run. Jeremy Scott shows a profit with his handicap hurdle debutants and an opening mark of 110 could be lenient. He has a couple of entries on Friday this week, suggesting that he might be expected to win here before bidding for a quick double under a penalty.

KING OF THE SOUTH finished a creditable 40-1 fifth of nine at Kempton last time, highly encouraging given that he dislikes Polytrack and he was returning from a seven-month break. William Knight’s five-year-old will be much happier back on Tapeta, as his record on this surface reads 1122131114 (6-10).

MR TREVOR did really well to finish second at Southwell on his penultimate start, as he raced up with the pace whereas the winner, third and fourth came from midfield or further back. He beat the next prominent racer by five lengths and confirmed the merit of that performance by scoring cosily at Newcastle next time to take his 7f record on the all-weather to 1121 (3-4). He runs over the same trip and track tonight and can follow up, despite the step up in class.
