RHUBARB caught the eye when mid-division at Bath last time, finishing a respectable 20-1 seventh of 14 on a day her patient running style was at a huge disadvantage. She’ll be much happier back at Chepstow – the scene of her four career wins –and the drying ground will suit. Her full record in sprints at this venue reads 4534916411143 (4-13) for a profit of £13.25 to a £1 level stake at SP. All four wins came when ridden prominently and I’m hoping Saffie Osborne, who takes over from an apprentice, has her closer to the early pace this time. Stall 9 of 14 should be fine as the pace is likely to come from Connie’s Rose, drawn nearby in stall 6.

GREY’S MONUMENT – 1pt win (8/1 888Sport, 15/2 Bet365, 7/1 generally)
GREY’S MONUMENT was poorly drawn towards the nearside in stall 11 of 11 when well held in the Greenham last month (first five drawn 2, 1, 4, 3 and 5) and Ralph Beckett’s son of Territories can be forgiven that performance. The step back up to 1m will suit – he landed a York nursery by six lengths on his sole previous run at this trip – and he’s unbeaten when racing on turning tracks in blinkers.

DANDY SPIRIT – 1pt win (4/1 generally)
DANDY SPIRIT impressed and surprised me when scoring at 14-1 under a prominent ride from stall 1 here on his penultimate start, as the wide route is usually most effective in sprints. He came down the middle in the straight, but he still raced closest to the inside rail and was followed home by runners drawn 6, 8 and 10 of 10. The other sprint on the card that day saw Hiya Maite (selected in this column) score from stall 8 of 10. Dandy Spirit defied a 5lb penalty and a market drift at Nottingham last Friday – his first win on a straight course – and he can complete his hat-trick tonight.
