4.00 Lingfield – WHITELEY WAY (1pt win – 5/1 Bet365, 9/2 generally)
High draws dominated on the straight course at Newbury’s meeting on June 27th and the scene was set in the Compton Beauchamp Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes in which the first four home came from stalls 10, 12, 11 and 9 of 12 (non-runner adjusted). WHITELEY WAY (stall 3) fared best of those drawn low and can get off the mark this afternoon.
7.50 Killarney – LORD ERSKINE (1pt win – 8/1 Paddy Power + Betfair, 15/2 generally)
Ten-year-old LORD ERSKINE rolled back the years with a cosy 11-2 victory in a 2m handicap at Tramore last week. The cheekpieces were re-applied for the first time this year but the recent run might have been more important. He’s now won eight of his 28 starts when returned to the track withing four weeks of his previous outing for a profit of £58.35 to a £1 level stake at SP. When bidding to follow up a recent win, his record reads 110194 (3-6) and the son of Fast Company will appreciate any rain that falls.
