1.05 Chepstow – LE CAMELEON (1pt E/W – 20/1 generally)
So far this season, Jane Williams has run 29 horses who were returning from a break of more than six weeks and only one of them score – LE CAMELEON at Warwick in early October. That was some effort as the yard was badly out of sorts at the time – the horses were short of peak fitness, and some were suffering from an infection. He took a heavy fall at Fontwell next time but runs well here and is worth chancing at a big price.
2.50 Chepstow – THE BIG BREAKAWAY (1pt E/W – 14/1 Paddy Power + Betfair, 11/1 generally) + CYCLOP (1pt E/W – 50/1 Bet365, 40/1 generally)
THE BIG BREAKAWAY tends to jump out to his left when racing on right-handed tracks and has a good record left-handed, recording form figures of 11413PF32 (3-9), improving to 111F32 (3-6) when racing below Grade 1 company, with the third place by just a length and a half on his first start after a wind operation and the second place by a head on his season debut. He looks set to go well.
CYCLOP tends to run well at this time of year and defied a 13-month break to finish a solid 40-1 second of six in handicap hurdle company at Musselburgh on November 2nd before placed efforts over fences at 22-1 and 14-1. His record in November/December now reads 3413F14332132112233 (5-19) and he’s scored on his last two visits to today’s venue.
