The Simon Earle-trained RARE CLOUDS did this column a favour when a 28-1 winner at Southwell in May of last year on his return from a 154-day break and, with his yard in good form, he’s worth an interest on his first outing since October. The nine-year-old went into my tracker after his fifth at Leicester in December 2021 where he raced in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail and he’s run pretty well every time he’s completed the course since – landing that Southwell race on his next start, finding only one too good when bidding to follow up at the same venue, and recording a pair of fourth-placed finishes at Worcester. This hold-up performer looks set to encounter a decent gallop and can be supported each-way.
