“I ran out of room to mention MASHAM MOOR in last week’s column, but Chris Fairhurst’s six-year-old is worth noting after his fourth place in the Spreadex Sports £300 Spread Betting Cashback Handicap. Sent off as the 5-2 favourite, he could never strike a meaningful blow from off the pace. The three who beat him were described as ‘prominent’, ‘prominent, led 2f out’ and ‘led’. In the circumstances, he did well to finish three lengths behind the winner and he could benefit from a return to Newcastle where patient tactics are more effective.’
