2.30 Taunton – AMELIA’S DANCE (1pt E/W – 8/1 bet365, 7/1 generally)

Half Dozen did this column a good turn when making a winning handicap hurdle debut in a first-time tongue-tie at Hereford last week (8-1) but if you missed out that day I’d be very wary of going in today at offers of around even-money. The reason we were with him last week was because of Paul Nicholls’ fine record with handicap hurdle debutants in that particular brand of headgear  – now eight winners from 21 runners since 2016 for a profit of £41.50. However, the other seven winners were all beaten in their follow-up bids, often at very short prices. Take him on with AMELIA’S DANCE, who was clearly unsuited to the left-handed galloping track at Newbury when a 30-length 7-1 fifth on her latest start. Her Taunton record reads 11341 (3-5), with the third place in this race last year.

5.30 Wolverhampton – WALKING ON CLOUDS (1pt win – 9/2 Bet365, 4/1 generally)

WALKING ON CLOUDS has done well since joining Gran Tuer, recording form figures of 2511211 (4-7), improving to 1111 (4-4) over 6f only. All the wins have come at Southwell/Newcastle and the switch to Wolverhampton’s Tapeta should hold no fears in this apprentice handicap. He’s also entered in a 5f handicap at Newcastle on Thursday and will avoid a penalty for that if winning here.

8.30 Wolverhampton – DINOO (2pt win – 2/1 generally)

DINOO was only fifth to Buxted Too when the 11-4 favourite for a 1m4f Class 5 handicap at Kempton last month, but that form has worked out exceptionally well, with the winner, runner-up and fourth all scoring at the next time of asking. Even the seventh-placed horse went close on his next outing, finishing third by three-quarters of a length. Roger Varian’s five-year-old was a winner over the extended 1m1f trip on his latest visit to Dunstall Park and he shapes as though 1m4f will prove to be his ideal trip.
