3.47 Nottingham – LET’S DREAM (1.5pts win – 11/4 William Hill, Paddy Power & Betfair)
I wrote up LET’S DREAM in my GG eyecatchers column after his unlucky-in-running third at Hamilton in late August, though talked myself out of tipping him at Goodwood the following month as I thought his connections would wait until his handicap debut before striking. However, he won that valuable soft-ground Goodwood maiden with something in hand at odds of 5-1 and should have plenty more to come. The son of Territories is better equipped to cope with today’s underfoot conditions (good to soft, soft in places with showers forecast) than the majority of his rivals and can follow up.
8.00 Kempton – TARTAN SKIRT (1pt win – 40/1 Paddy Power & Betfair, 33/1 bet365)
TARTAN SKIRT went off too fast in a 7.5f handicap at Beverley on June 27th – her final start for David O’Meara – and faded to finish a 16-1 eighth of the nine runners. She finished just half a length behind fellow pacesetter Ey Up It’s the Boss, who went close at Ripon next time before a 14-1 Thirsk win a couple of runs later. David Loughnane has a good recent record at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, with the handicappers landing 13 of their 69 starts (18.9%) since 2019 for a profit of £25.25 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 6.49, A/E = 2.00). The four-year-old needs to prove her effectiveness on Polytrack but looks worth chancing on her stable debut.
