SARATOGA GOLD found the company too hot in the Ebor and the 80-1 shot finished 12 lengths behind winner Absurde in 15th place. The Charles Hills-trained five-year-old, a six-time winner on turf, hasn’t had many opportunities on all-weather, recording form figures over 1m2f or further of 131 (2-3), with the third place at 20-1 when finding trouble in running. All those runs came on Polytrack, but his sire Mayson has a superior strike-rate (12%, compared to 10%) on Tapeta and he could improve for the switch to this surface for the first time.
