4.55 Kempton – DAPHNE MAY (1pt win – 9/4 generally)

DAPHNE MAY did well to win over 1m at Lingfield on her penultimate start as she was drawn in stall 1 and raced closer to the inside rail than ideal. She found the cut back to 7f against when bidding to follow up at the same venue a week later but clocked a good time for her third place and the winner has gone in again since. She has a win and a second to her name from three runs at this venue and is worth a small bet (the possible lack of early pace prevented me from making her a 2pt win bet).

5.30 Kempton – OWER STARLIGHT (2pt win – 4/1 Bet365, 7/2 generally)

OWER STARLIGHT was well backed for a 1m handicap at Lingfield last time but made the running on the ‘dead’ rail and was swamped close home, finishing one length back in fourth place. That was a fantastic effort in the circumstances, and he won’t have any problem with the switch to Kempton. He was a little unlucky to bump into Zealot and Rooful when third here in December, as that pair are now rated 31lb and 12lb higher and his only other course outing was a short-head second of 13 the previous month when clear best of the prominent racers.
