7.00 Kempton – GAVI DI GAVI (0.5pt ew – 8/1 generally)
GAVI DI GAVI finished a one-length runner-up to Lady Arabia (re-opposes tonight) over course and distance last time, but they didn’t go fast enough for Alan King’s veteran, and it was a fine effort in the circumstances. There’s plenty more pace in the race tonight and it could be teed up perfectly for him. Umberto dominates the market but he’s a six-race maiden and the main danger again looks to be Lady Of Arabia, and I’ll be having a small reversed forecast on the pair to finish one-two again.
8.00 Kempton – HOLBACHE (1pt win – 9/4 generally)
HOLBACHE took his record at Kempton to 113 (2-3) when going down by two and a half lengths to Man On A Mission (re-opposes tonight) and Diamondsinthesand on February 18th but he was challenged for the early lead and went off too hard under Molly Gunn from his wide draw. The race was set up for the closers with the winner/runner-up (drawn 1 and 2 respectively) described as ‘midfield’ and ‘held up in rear’. The fourth and fifth also came from the rear and, with less pace pressure and a smaller field tonight, he can reverse the form under Jack Doughty.
