2.25 Goodwood – JUMBLY (1pt E/W – 5/1 generally)

JUMBLY was only fourth when I napped her in the Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge at Royal Ascot but she challenged on the slowest part of the track and didn’t seem to get home over stiff/straight mile. She’d caught the eye at the Curragh the time before, finishing second from off the pace when everything was winning from the front and today’s drop in class/trip will suit. Her high draw, usually a concern over this course and distance, could be an advantage on yesterday’s evidence and, with luck, she’ll track likely pacesetter Matilda Picotte (stall 16) and get cover from the headwind.

3.00 Goodwood – HACKMAN (1pt E/W – 33/1 Paddy Power + Betfair, 25/1 generally)

HACKMAN, a soft-ground winner at Chester on his second career start, fared best of the prominent racers when third in Listed company at Sandown next time and ran a good race when returned to that venue on his latest outing, chasing home Kylian at a respectful distance when 14-1 for the Listed Dragon Stakes. He was ridden patiently last time, and when down the field at Royal Ascot on his penultimate start, and similar tactics could see him out-run big odds in the first-time tongue-tie. He’s well drawn in yesterday’s evidence and any rain will help.

5.20 Goodwood – HAZIYM (0.5pt E/W – 50/1 generally)

HAZIYM, a turf winner in France, has finished seventh of seven, eighth of ten and eighth of ten in three starts on the all-weather since joining Tony Carroll but he had subsequent winners behind him the last twice and also had the worst of the draw (stall 10 of 10) in a 6f handicap at Kempton last time where he was switched sharply right on leaving the stalls. His patient running style will be an advantage in this big-field 7f handicap, the return to turf will help and he should be able to get cover from the headwind thanks to his middle draw.Today
