7.30 Kempton – GEELONG (1pt each way – 15/2 bet365, 13/2 generally)
GEELONG can usually be relied upon to run his race when blinkered on the all-weather, recording form figures of 3321243 (1-7), with the latest third place at 8-1 over today’s course and distance. He sat too close to the strong early pace that day in a race set up for the closers and his one-length reverse was a cracking effort in the circumstances. The Cole yard is in good form and the five-year-old could again prove hard to kick out of the frame.
8.00 Kempton – REVOLUTIONISE (1pt each way – 9/1 William Hill)
REVOLUTIONISE has form figures in January of 1112272 (3-7) and hinted that his turn was near when a 9-1 fourth of eight at Chelmsford on December 21st. He’s been dropped 1lb to a mark of 79 for that effort and is nicely drawn in stall 6. It’s also interesting to note that he’s entered at Wolverhampton on Sunday, suggesting that the hope/intention is to win this and run him again quickly under a penalty.
8.30 Kempton – RISING FORCE (1pt win – 3/1 with bet365)
RISING FORCE qualified as a bet for me on three different systems when he lined up a 1m nursery at Chelmsford last month, but I reduced my bet considerably because of his draw in stall 12 of 12 (once adjusted for the non-runner). I’d expected him to drift from the early 3-1 and 11-4 but he went off as the 9-4 favourite before his six-length fifth. On the surface, that run looks disappointing but the four that beat him raced prominently from low draws (stalls 3, 2, 1 and 5) and he had little chance under a patient ride from his wide berth. The switch to Kempton won’t pose any problems and he looks well drawn in stall 4.
