OWER STARLIGHT has scored just once from 18 starts but he did well to go down by just a short head in second place in a 7f handicap at Kempton last time as he raced prominently in contest dominated by hold-up horses (the 20-1 winner, 40-1 third and 40-1 fourth all came from midfield or further back). We bet the prominently-ridden fifth from that race, Alafdhal, at Chelmsford next time and he duly won after strong support. Sixth-placed Vitesse Du Son, who made the early running was just touched off when 14-1 at Wolverhampton next time. There’s not much in the way of early pace among his rivals and he should be able to get a good early pitch before kicking on in the straight under Jim Crowley.
