ARCTICIAN was only fourth of the seven runners when 12-1 for a one-mile handicap at Chelmsford last time but the track was massively favouring early pace that day and the winner and runner-up sat one-two throughout and never came back to the field. Jim Boyle’s colt was only beaten by a neck for third place by 5-2 favourite, also ridden patiently, and that one ran a good race in defeat at Doncaster next time.
The cut back to 7f won’t inconvenience him, assuming there’s a decent pace on in this ten-runner line-up, and he’s 6lb lower than when running third at Lingfield on his most recent handicap start at this trip.
