WOLVERHAMPTON 2.40
PINK JAZZ – 1pt win (6/1 generally)

John Butler’s PINK JAZZ has form figures in December/January of 7101181069 (4-10) for a profit of £13.50 and the six-year-old will hopefully be stronger in the betting than he was here last time when trailing home last of the nine runners at odds of 18-1. He’s 16lb below his last winning mark and his trainer had a winner in these colours at Chelmsford last Saturday. NICK VEDDER is another who usually goes well at this time of year. His stall 11 draw makes life tricky but I’ll still be having a saver.

SOUTHWELL 6.15
ATRAFAN – 2pts win (4/1 generally)

ATRAFAN has finished second by a short head when we bet him at Newcastle last week and was beaten by a nose at the same venue the time before. He took up the running too soon on each occasion and was worn down by a closer. He’s drawn out wide today but, in a race full of hold-up horses, should be able to float across and sit on the shoulder of likely leader How Bizarre (stall 1). His full record in January now reads 111122 (4-6) and it will be disappointing if he doesn’t go close at least.
