Ayr & Wolverhampton Racing Tips - Andrew Mount's Best Bets for Tuesday 5 May

After a blistering bank holiday weekend of racing, Tuesday continues the momentum. There are five meetings throughout the afternoon and Andrew Mount has tips at Ayr and Wolverhampton.

Ayr Racing Tips (Tuesday 5 May 2026)

Ayr host a seven-race card north of the border on Tuesday. Andrew’s tip at the track runs in the second contest.

2.30 Ayr – Harb (1pt e/w – 15/2 bet365)

Harb tends to meet trouble when racing in big fields, especially if racing around a turn, and that was certainly the case at Pontefract last time where he finished eight of 13 as the 9-2 favourite. Tristan Davidson’s seven-year-old wasn’t best drawn in stall 8 that day and his patient running style was no help (the winner, Jojo Rabbit, made all from stall 4). The form has received a few boosts – sixth-placed Canaria Queen (stall 6) won at Doncaster next time, Mu Mu Land, a patiently-ridden ninth from stall 12, finished second to the favourite at Southwell on his next outing and tenth-placed Lucius Aurelius (stall 11) scored at Catterick on his next start. Today’s 11-runner line-up on a straight course should be fine, and his two runs here have produced a win and a fourth of 18. The drop to Class 6 company is also in his favour and he’s drawn next door to likely pace angle and main danger Canaria Queen.

Wolverhampton Racing Tips (Tuesday 5 May 2026)

Andrew waits for the final race of the entire day for his second best, in the lucky last at Wolverhampton.

9.00 Wolverhampton – Moostar (1pt win – 9/2 bet365)

James Owen has a fine record when fitting one of his runners with a visor for the first time, scoring with 24 of the 77 qualifiers for a profit of £22.51 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 14.26, A/E = 1.68). He’s five from ten with fillies (+£11.70) and Moostar looks a prime candidate to improve for the headgear in this 5f handicap. Nicely drawn in stall 4, the four-year-old has only had one run in a fillies-only contest for current handler – running second by a half a length at Catterick on her penultimate start when the winner got first run – and the new headgear could help her to end a frustrating spell.
