Andrew Mount attempts to kick off the week on a winning note and he has two tips for the horse racing on Monday 8 June. He heads to Carlisle and Leicester for his best bets of the day, as he looks to make it another profitable week.
Carlisle Racing Tips (Monday 8 June 2026)
Seven races take place at Carlisle, with a 2.15pm start. You don’t have to wait long for Andrew’s best bet as he opts for a selection in the opening contest.
2.15 Carlisle – Harry’s Halo (1pt win – 9/2 bet365, 4/1 generally)
The obvious worry where punting on Harry’s Halo is concerned is the possible lack of early pace in this 6f contest, but this is an apprentice handicap – they often go quick in the early stages – and he’s worth the risk. Kevin and Lauren Frost’s six-year-old was a big eyecatcher in a 5f handicap at Doncaster’s Lincoln meeting, finishing best of the closers in a 20-1 third (albeit form a useful draw). That race has produced plenty of winners and the return to his optimum 6f trip is a bonus. He has yet to race here but he has plenty of form on stiff tracks such as Pontefract and Newmarket and his lack of winning form outside of the September to November period is likely down to his need for good to soft or softer ground rather than a strong seasonal preference.
Leicester Racing Tips (Monday 8 June 2026)
There’s alternative flat racing at Leicester, who host an eight-race card. Andrew’s best bet on the card runs in the 3.30pm event.
3.30 Leicester – Nebbia (1pt win – 9/1 bet365, 8/1 generally)
Nebbia shaped well at Windsor on last month’s reappearance, finishing a 28-1 two-length fifth of 13 in a 6f handicap on officially good to firm going. The cut back to 5f looks an interesting move for Hughie Morrison’s filly as her sole run at this trip produced a three-quarters of a length 33-1 second of five at Wolverhampton. More significantly perhaps is the choice of venue for her second start of the current campaign, as her trainer’s ten-year record with three-year-olds in Leicester handicaps stands at eight winners from 26 runners for a profit of £35.65 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£47.16 at Betfair SP after 2% commission). She needs to improve on the clock but has the best of the draw in stall 1 of 8 and is an attractive price.
