Cartmel Racing Tips (Monday 25 May 2026)
One of Cartmel’s strongest cards of the year takes place on Monday, as class 2 action goes to post. Andrew has a tip in the second contest at the meeting.
2.13 Cartmel – Masterminding (1pt e/w –7/1 bet365, William Hill, both four places)
Jimmy Moffatt has enjoyed plenty of success at Cartmel over the years and he had two winners and two seconds from his six runners here on Saturday. We wouldn’t make a profit by blindly backing his course runners but my preferred angle with the yard is to back their stable switchers (horses they take over from other trainers) at the first time of asking, regardless of track. This system has produced 18 winners from 175 bets this century for a profit of £39.03 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£128.22 at Betfair SP after 2% commission). The Cartmel handicappers were five from 27 (+£25.00) and that might have been massively enhanced had 50-1 shot Minella Escape not unseated when going well under Leah Noreci at this meeting three years ago. Noreci, who rode one of the yard’s winners here on Saturday, takes the ride on Masterminding in this 2m6f handicap hurdle and the seven-year-old looks a potential improver on his first start after leaving Maurice Barnes (Moffat’s only previous ex-Barnes switcher was a winner). The son of Mastercraftsman is a 14-race maiden but has shown glimmers of ability at big prices over shorter trips in maiden/novice company and he makes his handicap debut today.
Redcar Racing Tips (Monday 25 May 2026)
The Zetland Gold Cup handicap is the feature race at Redcar on Monday and Andrew has a tip for you in that race.
4.07 Redcar – Fierce Fortitude (1pt win – 7/2 generally)
Fierce Fortitude, in the frame in all-weather maiden/novice races on his first three career starts, opened his account in a Brighton maiden on his turf debut last September and returned from a gelding operation when a half-length 9-1 second to My Fermoy in a 9.4f Class 4 Wolverhampton handicap in March. The time was fast for the grade, and the winner was only just denied when stepped up to Class 3 level at Lingfield next time. Third-placed Way Of Life was a winner on his next outing, as was Fierce Fortitude who scored with more in hand than the three-quarters of a length winning margin suggested in a 1m2f Class 3 Redcar handicap. The 4lb rise for that victory could have been more and he looks the obvious call in the Zetland Gold Cup over the same course and distance.
