All eyes maybe on England’s World Cup semi-final with Argentina on Wednesday 15th July, but there are five UK horse racing fixtures before they kick off at 8pm.
Steve Chambers focuses on the afternoon action at Catterick and Bath, as he picks out his best four bets across the two cards.
Catterick Racing Tips (Wednesday 15th July 2026)
It’s a 2.10pm start at Catterick for their six race card. We have a brace of picks from the Yorkshire track for Wednesday.
3.10 Catterick – Mardy Bum (1pt win – 13/8)
David O’Meara’s Mardy Bum shaped with real promise last time out at Catterick, when he was staying on eye-catchingly well over five furlongs. He will try out six furlongs for the first time in his career on Wednesday on his return to Catterick. This should bring on significant improvement, and he can duly land his maiden success at the fifth time of asking. He only faces three rivals in this contest, with all three opponents struggling to show their best so far. So, it’s wise to stick with O’Meara’s charge, who can scoot clear in the closing stages.
3.40 Catterick – The Good Biscuit (1pt win – 9/2)
Aberama Gold is the one to beat off top weight in the 3.40pm contest, but The Good Biscuit is attractively handicapped and can claim victory. Ruth Carr’s charge is a course and distance winner and is now back to his last winning mark of 75. Fourth at Pontefract last time out, he’s been given a huge chance by the handicapper by being dropped 2lbs in the handicap. One win and one place in his last visits to Catterick, he’s one that will relish this contest and he can return to winning ways.
Bath Racing Tips (Wednesday 15th July 2026)
Six races take place at Bath on the level on Wednesday. The action begins at 2.31pm, with our GG Lucky 15 concluding with a brace of selections.
2.31 Bath – Safari Dream (1pt win – 5/1)
A disappointing fifth at Ffos Las last time out, Safari Dream has been dropped 1lb by the handicapper for the 2.31pm at Bath. Rod Millman’s charge will benefit from Charlie Tucker taking 7lbs off his back, but the main positive will be the quick ground. His last win came when firm was in the going description and a lack of rain is sure to mean the turf is rattling quick at Bath. He’s been out of form of late, but if he can recapture some old form then he has to be respected in the opener.
4.01 Bath – Campeona (1pt win – 5/6)
Sir Mark Prescott’s Campeona put in a career best last time out when finishing third at Bath. Now. stepping up even further in trip for the 4.01pm on Wednesday, the three-year-old can dominate in the closing stages. Joe Ponting’s Endofastorm has a decent record at Bath and is sure to be on the front end from the get-go. However, Campeona can track him into the race and then pull well clear of that rival and the rest of the field to claim a first win.
