Catterick Racing Tips (Wednesday 22 April 2026)
Seven races take place at Catterick, but you have to wait until 4.25pm for Andrew’s best bet of the day at the Yorkshire venue.
4.25 Catterick – Rosenpur (1pt win – 4/1 bet365)
Rosenpur, who represents in-form Jennie Candlish, has been off the track since beating only one home at Wolverhampton in early November but he has a consistent record when racing left-handed on turf and is taken to bounce back. The six-year-old’s combined record in handicap company here and at Chester reads 722310132 (2-9), including form figures of 231132 (2-6) when drawn in stall 3 or lower. He has stall 2 today and is worth supporting despite the presence of fellow pacesetter Yorkshire Glory (in great form on the all-weather but 0-9 on turf).
Perth Racing Tips (Wednesday 22 April 2026)
Perth host a cracking day’s racing on Wednesday, with some competitive contests taking place throughout the day. Andrew has a brace of selections in the 4.40pm event.
4.40 Perth – Bollin Matilda (1pt win – 5/2 bet365) & Follow Charlie (0.5pt e/w – 16/1 bet365)
Bollin Matilda came good in the spring of 2024, scoring on heavy ground at Newcastle/Perth (this race), and she recorded her first win since that brace when taking the 3m Brindisi Breeze Hurdle Series Final at Musselburgh last month in a very fast time for the grade despite racing out of the handicap proper. Donald Whillans eight-year-old raced just once from April 2024 until November 2025 but looks back to her old self and now has form figures in handicap hurdles in the March to May period of 61121 (3-5), improving to 111 (3-3) over 2m7f or further on good to soft or softer going. She has her ideal conditions again today.
Follow Charlie usually struggles in Class 4 or better company, scoring just once from 20 such starts, but is a different beast at today’s Class 5 level in handicap company, recording form figures of 2115321 (3-7) for a profit of £10.83 to a £1 level stake at SP. He ran second in this race 12 months ago and should be thereabouts once more.
Gowran Park Racing Tips (Wednesday 22 April 2026)
Flat racing takes place at Gowran Park on Wednesday, with Andrew having an eye-catching each-way pick in the 7.18pm.
7.18 Gowran Park – Kitty Bear (0.5pt e/w – 9/2 Paddy Power/Sky Bet)
There was a strong draw bias in the 7f handicaps at Leopardstown last week, favouring high-drawn runners who raced well away from the inside rail. The three highest draws finished one-two-four in the 4.52 race, so it was surprising to see Kitty Bear sent off as the 7-2 favourite over the same trip 35 minutes later as she had the worst of the draw in stall 1 of 12. The four-year-old sat in midfield (in a race which favoured prominent types) and used up plenty of petrol when making a big mid-race move on the slowest part of the track before her effort petered out, coming home just over four lengths behind the winner in sixth. She’s hardly prolific but handles this track and heavy ground and is worth a small each-way bet.
