Aidan O’Brien dominates the head of the Coronation Stakes betting, as the master of Ballydoyle will unleash the two classy fillies Precise and True Love in Friday’s Group 1 contest at 4.20pm.
Both already have a Classic victory to their name this season, winning the English (True Love) and Irish (Precise) 1000 Guineas and they are clear favourites for this event on day four of the meeting.
Steve Chambers previews the race and picks out his 1-2-3 for the event, as well as looking at the trends and odds for one of the highlights on a seven-race card.

A real juvenile star, Precise was sent off a hot favourite for the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, but she failed to sparkle at flat HQ and could only finish seventh. Well beaten that day by stablemate True Love, she reversed the form in fine fashion when the pair met in the Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh. With True Love sent off an odds-on jolly, Precise produced a scorching run to win by over two lengths.
Now, the pair are set for another clash at Royal Ascot and it’s Precise that is the warm order again. The choice of Ryan Moore she has shown that she is the premier three-year-old filly, when on song, so if she can replicate her Irish Guineas win then she should be able to frank the form with True Love, who certainly shows more consistency on a racecourse.
The Owen Burrows-trained Touleen put up a career best when sixth in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, and she is one that could improve again. However, it’s unlikely she can find enough to challenge the Ballydoyle pairing, who could just be a class above.
A winner of a Grade 1 at the Breeders’ Cup, Balantina is of interest for Donnacha O’Brien, but this is her seasonal reappearance, so she may come on for the run. Black Caviar Gold, Moon Target and Timeforshowcasing are another trio of contenders, but need to find plenty to figure.

Verdict
The two Ballydoyle contenders have won a Guineas each and, with PRECISE having beaten True Love in the Irish version last time, she can confirm her supremacy today. It will be no surprise if True Love poses a greater threat than at the Curragh, however. It could be a messy race run at a slow pace and by far the likeliest front-runner is German 1,000 Guineas winner Timeforshowcasing. The return to fast ground is a concern but she could nevertheless be an attractive each-way option if afforded an uncontested lead. Balantina is an interesting contender on her first outing since winning at the Breeders’ Cup last October, while Sukanya and Touleen are others who could run well.[Ben Hutton]

2026 Coronation Stakes Tips
Ryan Moore’s decision to partner Precise certainly veers you in the direction of the Irish 1000 Guineas winner. She was electric last time out and a repeat of that effort should be enough to beat True Love, who can chase her stablemate home. Balantina can finish best of the rest, but it’s a contest that can be dominated by those two Ballydoyle raiders at the head of the market.
