14:07 – ITBA Mares Maiden Hurdle
Race Details: 2m 1f | | Going: GOOD (Watering) | | jumps
This looks a fair maiden rather than a deep one, and there are a few with obvious claims if improving for another run. Cool Native sets the standard on figures for Gordon Elliott after shaping with promise in better company, while Fastnet Crystal is one of the more interesting less-exposed types after finishing second before disappointing on her latest start. Room For One More comes from the Willie Mullins yard and is entitled to leave a modest debut well behind, but she is short enough for one with just a single run. Ritz Plan gets weight as a 4yo and already has a solid stack of placed form, while Bayonetta is becoming expensive to follow without quite getting her head in front. Tricky enough, but not an impossible puzzle.
Top Selections
1. Cool Native – 11/4 with Paddy Power
Jockey: Jack Kennedy | Trainer: Gordon Elliott | Form: 3U4- | Rating: 111 | Topspeed: 90
She makes plenty of appeal in a race where not many arrive with a standout profile. A mark of 111 is the best on offer here and her bits of hurdle form already read well enough for a maiden of this nature. The unseat is easy enough to forgive, and her latest fourth suggested she has the engine to win one of these when things fall right. Jack Kennedy is an eye-catching booking, and Elliott’s mares are rarely overfaced in this grade. At 11/4, she is not exactly under the radar, but she still looks the one with the most solid winning credentials. Bet: WIN
2. Ritz Plan – 7/2 with Bet365
Jockey: J J Slevin | Trainer: S R B Crawford | Form: 242-4 | Rating: 104 | Topspeed: 79
The obvious each-way angle is the 4yo getting in here with 157lb and bringing consistent enough maiden hurdle form to the table. Her 242-4 line tells you she has been knocking on the door, and a rating of 104 puts her firmly in the argument if this turns tactical. She does not have the same ceiling as some of the bigger yards’ runners, but she is reliable, receives weight from the older mares and should be well suited by this sort of test. J J Slevin is a positive booking and 7/2 looks workable for a filly who ought to be in the first three if running to form. Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Cool Native is the win play on the strength of the best established hurdle form and the highest rating in the field. Ritz Plan makes most appeal each-way because of her weight allowance and solid profile in a race where a few market principals still have something to prove. The main dangers are Room For One More from the Mullins stable and Fastnet Crystal if bouncing back.

14:37 – Randox (C & G) Maiden Hurdle
Race Details: 2m 1f | | Going: GOOD (Watering) | | jumps
This looks a pretty workable maiden rather than a deep one, and the obvious starting point is Luker’s Tipple, who brings by far the best published rating into the race. He has been knocking on the door in similar company and sets the standard on 127. Jet Renegade is the solid alternative after a couple of respectable efforts, while Liceo has at least shown enough in handicaps and maidens to suggest he can be involved again. Gordon Elliott runs two, with Direct Approach likely the more interesting after a quiet debut and Fuusland still something of an unknown after failing to complete first time up. In truth, this should come down to whether Luker’s Tipple is as straightforward as his figures suggest, because on bare form he has strong claims.
Top Selections
1. Luker’s Tipple
Jockey: Keith Donoghue | Trainer: Gavin Cromwell | Form: 392-34 | Rating: 127 | Topspeed: 102
He is the one with the standout profile in the field and, frankly, anything close to his recent form makes him hard to oppose in this company. That 127 rating towers over these rivals and his sequence of 3-9-2-3-4 says he has been running consistently well without quite getting the job done. This sharp enough 2m1f around Downpatrick should suit a horse with a bit of tactical pace, and Cromwell’s runners in this sphere are rarely far away. He does not need to improve much to win a maiden of this standard, just reproduce. Bet: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Liceo – 6/1 with Bet365
Jockey: P J O’Hanlon | Trainer: Dermot A McLoughlin | Form: 40-935 | Rating: 107 | Topspeed: 76
At the prices, Liceo looks the each-way angle in a race where a few of these still have plenty to prove. He is not as flashy on paper as the favourite, but his recent figures suggest he is holding his form reasonably well and a mark of 107 gives him a fair platform in this grade. The latest fifth was not a bad effort in the context of this race, and he has shown enough over hurdles to think he can nick a place if the principals do not fire. Available at 6/1, he makes more appeal as a solid each-way punt than some of the shorter, less established types. Bet: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Luker’s Tipple is the clear win play on the strength of his rating and the consistency of his recent hurdle form. For an each-way option, Liceo makes the most appeal at the prices in a nine-runner race with three places on offer. Jet Renegade is the obvious danger if running to his mark, while Direct Approach is the one who could step forward for top connections.

15:07 – Join Racing TV Now With A Free Trial Handicap Hurdle
Race Details: 2m 1f | | Going: GOOD (Watering) | | jumps
This is a proper Downpatrick handicap in that it looks deep, competitive and just a little bit untidy. Sea Of Doubt arrives in the best recent nick and is an obvious starting point after a solid run of form, while Bryson shaped like a winner waiting to happen when runner-up last time. Sneddy Eddie is the lurking danger now dropped to a workable mark for a yard that knows exactly how to place one here, and Turkey And Ham is another with enough ability to make the shortlist if building on his return. There are plenty with bits and pieces of form, but not many coming here with convincing momentum. That makes it a tricky puzzle rather than a strong race, and the market leaders don’t look bombproof.
Top Selections
1. Bryson – 11/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Sam Ewing | Trainer: W R Crawford | Form: 0B6-U2 | Rating: 103 | Topspeed: 93
Bryson gets the vote because his latest second was the most persuasive recent piece of form on offer among the principals. He had been a bit stop-start beforehand, but that run suggested he is finding his feet in handicaps and a mark of 103 still looks fair enough. Sam Ewing is a positive booking for a horse who should travel well around this sharp track, and this 2m1f on good ground ought to suit nicely. At 11/2 with Bet365, he makes more appeal than a few shorter ones because there is still some upside here, and that matters in a race like this. Bet: WIN
2. Broken Ice – 12/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Alex Harvey | Trainer: John C McConnell | Form: 4448-5 | Rating: 107 | Topspeed: 101
Broken Ice is the each-way play because he has the profile of a battle-hardened handicapper who can outrun his price in a race lacking certainty. He is 10 now, so nobody should be pretending there is loads of improvement to come, but that Topspeed figure of 101 stands out in this field and his mark has become manageable. His latest fifth was not flashy, though it was respectable enough after a break, and McConnell’s runners are rarely underestimated in these ordinary summer hurdles. With four places on offer, 12/1 with Bet365 looks fair for a horse who should be staying on when some of these have cried enough. Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Bryson is the win play after shaping like he is ready to strike, and he looks the percentage call in a race full of unreliable types. Broken Ice is the each-way punt at double-figure odds, with his experience and strong Topspeed figure giving him solid place claims. Sea Of Doubt and Sneddy Eddie are the obvious dangers, especially the latter if the Elliott yard has him primed.

15:37 – Plus 2 Print Remembering Tony Oakes MBE Maiden Hurdle
Race Details: 2m 5f | | Going: GOOD (Watering) | | jumps
This looks a maiden in name only because there are a couple in here with far stronger credentials than the average summer hurdle. San Hilario brings the standout figures, with a mark of 132 and a string of placed efforts that set a clear standard, while Willie Mullins saddles Martin Plage, who is much less exposed over hurdles and is bound to attract support. Behind the front pair, it gets thinner quickly. Sampoet has been around the block but is at least reliable enough to give himself a chance, while Talladega and Ersudaly have bits and pieces of form without screaming winner. In truth, this feels more like a match at the head of the market than a deep, competitive puzzle, and class should tell over this 2m5f on decent ground.
Top Selections
1. San Hilario – 5/4 with Bet365
Jockey: Jack Kennedy | Trainer: Gordon Elliott | Form: 22220- | Rating: 132 | Topspeed: 122
He is the obvious one, but sometimes obvious is absolutely the right call. San Hilario has been knocking on the door in better company than this and that 132 rating towers over what the rest have achieved under Rules. The string of seconds tells its own story: he has the engine for a race like this and doesn’t need to improve much at all to get off the mark. Jack Kennedy taking over for Gordon Elliott is another positive in a race where professionalism could matter. At around 5/4, he is hardly a hidden gem, but he is still hard to oppose given the standard he has already set. Bet: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Sampoet – 12/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Ben Harvey | Trainer: D M Christie | Form: -4584U | Rating: 108 | Topspeed: 65
If you’re looking beyond the two market leaders for an each-way angle, Sampoet makes more appeal than most. He is a 9-year-old maiden, so there are obvious limitations, but his rating of 108 gives him a more solid profile than plenty of these and he has at least been mixing it in handicap company without being disgraced. The recent unseat is a blot, though it is not the same as being tailed off, and a return to a maiden of this nature could easily see him run into a place. At 12/1, he looks the sensible each-way punt in a race where several of the outsiders need major improvement.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Keep it straightforward: San Hilario is the win bet because his established hurdle form is comfortably the best on offer. For an each-way play, Sampoet looks the one most likely to pick up the pieces if the favourite and Martin Plage dominate. Martin Plage is the obvious danger, especially from that yard, but at the prices I’d rather side with proven substance over potential.

16:12 – Go fibrefast With Fibrus Broadband Rated Novice Hurdle
Race Details: 2m 5f | | Going: GOOD (Watering) | | jumps
This looks a compact but quite informative novice, with the market understandably centred on the big yards. Surfin Usa arrives as the likely improver after getting off the mark last time, while Gordon Elliott fields a pair in Playtime and Lemmy Caution, both of whom bring stronger ratings into the race than the Mullins runner. That makes for an interesting clash between proven figures and potential. Playtime has been knocking on the door without quite getting his head in front, whereas Lemmy Caution shaped well again when third on his latest start and has the best Topspeed figure in the line-up. Butch Coolidge and Gangster Granny are not hopeless if the principals underperform, but this still looks a race the top three should dominate. Tricky enough from a betting angle, but not especially deep.
Top Selections
1. Lemmy Caution – 7/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Sam Ewing | Trainer: Gordon Elliott | Form: 336-13 | Rating: 126 | Topspeed: 121
Lemmy Caution makes plenty of appeal in a race where the obvious favourite may still have a bit to prove at this level. He got off the mark before following up with a solid third, and that form line sits well in the context of this contest. His mark of 126 is right up there, and that 121 Topspeed figure is the best on offer here, which matters around a track that can put an emphasis on rhythm and stamina. Elliott’s runners in these novice events are rarely here for exercise, and at 7/2 he looks the one offering the best blend of substance and value. Bet: WIN
2. Playtime – 2/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Jack Kennedy | Trainer: Gordon Elliott | Form: 0-6327 | Rating: 127 | Topspeed: 98
Playtime is hardly a wild each-way angle in a six-runner race, but he does bring the joint-strongest recent body of form among those with established hurdle figures. Rated 127, he actually tops this field on official figures and has been competitive in better races than this without managing to put one to bed. The concern is obvious enough: he has had chances and can look a shade vulnerable off the bridle. Still, Jack Kennedy aboard for Gordon Elliott catches the eye, and if this turns into a proper test over 2m5f, his consistency should see him firmly in the shake-up. At 2/1 he’s no giveaway, but he’s solid enough for the place part. Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Lemmy Caution is the win play here, chiefly because he brings strong recent form and the best speed figure while still being priced to attack. Playtime is the each-way option in this six-runner field if you want something dependable rather than flashy. Surfin Usa is the danger; he’s open to improvement for Willie Mullins and could easily be better than his current rating.

16:47 – Tote Guarantee, Never Beaten By SP Handicap Hurdle
Race Details: 2m 5f | | Going: GOOD (Watering) | | jumps
This is a proper Downpatrick handicap in that it looks deep, competitive and just awkward enough to make you work for an answer. Nakassama and Morell River arrive with the most obvious recent form, while Cozone comes here on the back of a win and still looks on a workable mark. Caher Roes Den is the fascinating one for Willie Mullins, but he returns from a long absence and the market has had to price in a fair bit of guesswork there. Joya Del Mar is another recent scorer, and Mickey Cohen has enough upside to get involved if building on his comeback run. In a field of 18 over this trip, position, rhythm and jumping will count for plenty, so I would rather side with runners bringing solid recent evidence than chase a sexy reputation.
Top Selections
1. Nakassama – 3/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Mr O McGill | Trainer: Noel C Kelly | Form: 692-12 | Rating: 115 | Topspeed: 95
He makes plenty of appeal in a race where not everything can be trusted. The recent 1-2 figures tell the story: he got off the mark and then backed it up with another good effort, which is often the sign of a horse who has found his level rather than fluked one on the right day. A mark of 115 still looks manageable, and Noel C Kelly also saddles Tribal Moon, but Nakassama is clearly the yard’s more solid play on current evidence. At 3/1 he is not hiding, but this is the kind of horse I want on side around here: fit, in form and proven to cope with the hustle of a big-field handicap. Bet: WIN
2. Mickey Cohen – 14/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Mr Finn Tegetmeier | Trainer: Noel Meade | Form: 4312-4 | Rating: 113 | Topspeed: 108
He looks a much more interesting each-way play than his price suggests. The 4312 sequence before his break was progressive, and his latest fourth on reappearance was perfectly respectable in the context of a horse entitled to come on for the run. What really catches the eye is that topspeed figure of 108, which says he has the engine to be seriously competitive in this grade if his jumping holds together under pressure. Noel Meade’s 5yo still has fewer miles on the clock than plenty of these exposed older handicappers, and 14/1 feels a fair reward for taking the chance that there is another step forward in him second time back. Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Nakassama is the straightforward win play because he brings the clearest recent profile and looks set to run his race again. Mickey Cohen is the each-way punt at a double-figure price, with scope to improve from his comeback. The main dangers are Morell River, who is holding his form well, and Cozone, who arrives after a win and is hard to dismiss.

This looks a fairly interesting closing bumper rather than a deep one, with the market understandably centred around the couple with solid rules form and a handful of yards that know how to ready one first time. Rememberwhat sets the standard on what we’ve seen, having already posted a respectable fourth and the best published figures in the line-up, while Be My Fortune and Payslip represent powerful connections and don’t need to be world-beaters to make a big impact on debut. Tis Well For Some is another obvious player on stable reputation alone. In a race where several arrive with no public evidence, it could easily be decided by who handles this sharp enough 2m2f best and who travels with a bit of professionalism. Tricky enough, but not impossible to unpick.
Top Selections
1. Rememberwhat – 11/4 with Bet365
Jockey: Mr J Flood | Trainer: P G Fahey | Form: 4 | Rating: 101 | Topspeed: 87
He’s the one with the most persuasive piece of actual racecourse form and that counts for plenty in a bumper like this. A debut fourth does not leap off the page at a glance, but it gives Rememberwhat a clear edge in experience over several likely dangers and his figures are the strongest on offer here. P G Fahey’s runners in this sphere are rarely short of know-how, and if he builds at all on that first outing he holds strong claims of taking this. At 11/4 with Bet365, he looks the percentage call in a race where some of the shorter ones still have plenty to prove under Rules. Bet: WIN

2. Payslip – 7/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Mr D G Lavery | Trainer: Gavin Cromwell | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:
Gavin Cromwell is not a trainer to ignore in these late-summer bumpers and Payslip is interesting purely because the market has him prominent despite the absence of form figures. The weight allowance leaves this one getting plenty from some of the main rivals, and in a race where not all the exposed runners are obviously well ahead of the assessor, that could matter. There’s enough respect in the betting to think a forward showing is expected, and 7/2 with Bet365 makes some each-way appeal in a 10-runner field with three places on offer. He may not need to improve much at all to hit the frame and possibly better. Bet: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Rememberwhat is the sensible win play because he brings the best piece of known form and sets the standard. Payslip is the each-way punt, with Cromwell’s yard and the market support making him the more interesting of the unexposed types. Be My Fortune is the obvious danger on connections, while Tis Well For Some also commands respect if strong in the betting.
