Haydock Racing Tips (Saturday 9 May 2026)

Haydock host a mixed card of jumps and flat on Saturday. Andrew has two best bets, one over obstacles and one on the level, at the Lancashire track.

12.45 Haydock – Al Sayah (0.5pt e/w – 14/1 bet365 & William Hill)

Al Sayah did this column a good turn when winning at odds of 9-2 in a four-runner line-up at Taunton last time, taking her record in the March to June period, after a recent outing, to 1111121 (6-7), with the sole defeat by a neck. Neil Mulholland’s six-year-old has conditions in her favour and perhaps the switch from cheekpieces to a first-time visor can eke out some improvement.

12:45 Pertemps Network Long Distance Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race)

3.40 Haydock – Myal (1pt win – 7/1 bet365, William Hill)

Myal had a great time of things over 7f in the early months of last season after reappearing over the wrong trip at Doncaster, running a huge race to finish third in the Spring Mile after racing prominently into the headwind. It was a similar story on his reappearance at the Lincoln meeting this term where he finished a respectable fifth to Aramram over an inadequate 6f trip in the Listed Cammidge Trophy. He followed that with a 15-2 win over his optimum trip at Thirsk, doing well to hold on from Poet Master who challenged wider on the better ground. Steph Hollinshead’s five-year-old now has form figures over 7f, aside from seasonal debuts, of 11111814021 (7-11).

Lingfield Racing Tips (Saturday 9 May 2026)

Andrew’s best bet at Lingfield runs before the Classic trials, as he has a handicap tip in the opening race.

12.55 Lingfield – Morcar (1pt e/w – 11/1 Ladbrokes, Coral, BetVictor, 10/1 generally)

Last year’s winner Morcar has a fine record on Lingfield’s turf course, recording form figures of 3311 (2-4), with the first defeat by just three-quarters of a length and the other, when going down by five and a half lengths, excusable as she was wearing first-time blinkers. Richrd Hannon’s six-year-old shaped well behind Rathgar in a competitive Class 4 handicap art Newbury on last month’s return to action, finishing just over seven lengths behind the winner in a 50-1 tenth of 14, doing fourth best of the closers. That was also his first start since a wind operation and his trainer has a good record with his runners on their second start back following wind surgery, with eight winners from 37 runners for a profit of £68.58 to a £1 level stake at SP. Twisting Physics, also ridden patiently when sixth in that Rathgar Newbury race, is the obvious danger while Youthful King could run with credit at a big price now back on turf after a recent outing.

12:55 William Hill Epic Boosts Handicap (GBBPlus Race)

Leicester Racing Tips (Saturday 9 May)

There are seven races at Leicester on Saturday evening. Andrew’s best bet at the Midlands track runs in the opening race.

5.25 Leicester – Sky Secret (2pt win – 5/2 bet365)

Sky Secret was reportedly well fancied by connections when making his debut here a fortnight ago but stall 10 and greenness did for him and he had to settle for fourth place as the 15-8 favourite. Today’s stall 2 draw should ensure that he stays away from the ‘dead’ stands’ side rail and his debut form was franked when the poorly drawn fifth won at Chester this week.

17:25 British EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes (Bands C And D) (EBF Qualifier) (GBB/IRE Incentive Race)
