All seven races from Royal Ascot will be shown live on ITV Racing on Wednesday 19th June and our in-house tipster Steve Chambers is here to pick out his best bets across day 2 of the Royal meeting…
3.05pm Royal Ascot – Queen’s Vase Stakes
With seven wins in this race, Aidan O’Brien is only one victory behind the great Sir Henry Cecil, who saddled the winner on eight separate occasions and the master of Ballydoyle has a sensational chance of bagging win number eight in the 2024 edition of the Queen’s Vase at 3:05pm on Wednesday afternoon.
Illinios is the obvious number one for the yard with Ryan Moore opting to ride him, but he’s been disappointing this season, so is worth taking on. The Ballydoyle inmate worth backing is GROSVENOR SQUARE, who was smart as a two-year-old, but failed to fire in the Chester Vase on his first run this year. He won’t be the first to struggle around the tight turns of the Roodee and the step up in trip looks to be a big positive, as he could easily be the premier St Leger candidate come September for O’Brien. Available, at attractive odds, Grosvenor Square is the one to down his rivals here and cement his place as an exciting staying prospect.
3.45pm Royal Ascot – Duke Of Cambridge Stakes
A Listed winner in France, GREGARINA made a winning debut for Joseph O’Brien when she won the Group 3 Athasi Stakes at the Curragh at the start of May. That came in soft going, so she will have quicker conditions to deal with on Wednesday, but she’s entitled to improve for that run and she could be the value play in a competitive renewal of the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes.
The O’Brien team also saddle Rogue Millennium, who won the race for Tom Clover 12 months ago, and that starlet has to be considered, while Laurel is another classy performer taking her chance here. However, Gregarina is a fascinating runner in this event and she could well be the each-way play for punters.

Royal Ascot Wednesday Tips: Four Best Bets For Day 2 Of Royal Meeting
Day two of Royal Ascot is the talk of the racing world on Wednesday, and Joe Napier has picked out four best bets, bookending the card in the Queen Mary Stakes and the Windsor Castle Stakes. 2.30pm Royal Ascot – Queen Mary Stakes Having had no runner in the race for the last four seasons,…
Tue 18 Jun 20244.25pm Royal Ascot – Prince Of Wales’s Stakes
Aidan O’Brien’s AUGUSTE RODIN is a fascinating horse as he is either exceptionally good, as he showed when storming to victory in the Derby at Epsom Downs in 2023, or he can produce shocking runs, as he did when well beaten in both the 2000 Guineas and King George.
Well, the Ballydoyle four-year-old can show his best form on Wednesday and claim victory in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes. He failed to get the better of White Birch in the Tattersalls Gold Cup on his comeback run, but he’s sure to strip fitter for that effort and he should be cherry ripe for this. Inspiral is the main danger, but she is arguably better over a mile and her turn of pace may just not be enough to deal with the relentless galloping of Auguste Rodin, who can add another big prize to his CV.

5.40pm Royal Ascot – Kensington Palace Fillies’ Handicap
It’s a hugely competitive renewal of the Kensington Palace Fillies’ Handicap at 5:40pm and last year’s heroine Villanova Queen will be looking to retain her crown for Jessica Harrinton, but off top weight is going to find it tough.
A rapid improver that looks the one to beat is Saeed bin Suroor’s SUMMER OF LOVE, who has racked up a brace of impressive wins on the all-weather at Kempton and she lines up here off a mark of 88. She will not only have to show she can deliver on turf, but also steps up in trip, however, she has looked a pretty smart prospect for Godolphin and she could just have too much quality for her rivals here.
