17:45 – Unibet/EBF Restricted Novice Stakes (Bands C/D) (EBF Restricted Race Qualifier) (GBB Race) (Div I)

Race Details: 7f | Class 4 | Going: Standrd to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a fairly useful restricted novice for the grade, with a couple of debut winners bringing the most solid form and several well-bred newcomers lurking in behind them. Abrahamsen and Extended Order have already done the job on the track and set the standard on ratings, while Duke Of Burgundy shaped nicely when third first time and looks the type to improve for stepping up to 7f. The Monkey King and Angel Of Heaven represent powerful yards and are prominent in the market despite lacking racecourse evidence, which tells its own story. It is not an easy race to solve because there are unknown quantities everywhere, but the proven pair do at least give punters something tangible to work with.

Top Selections

1. Abrahamsen – 10/3 with Bet365

Jockey: Pierre-Louis Jamin | Trainer: Archie Watson | Form: 1 | Rating: 80 | Topspeed:

Abrahamsen is the one with the clearest credentials. He has already won, he has the best published rating in the field on 80, and crucially he gets in here carrying 127lb rather than conceding weight all round. In a race full of guesswork, that combination of proven ability and a handy weight makes plenty of appeal. Archie Watson knows how to ready a juvenile and this colt looks the percentage call against several expensive unknowns. At 10/3, he is hardly flying under the radar, but he still makes more appeal than taking a short enough price about debutants in a race where experience could count for plenty. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Duke Of Burgundy – 5/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Joe Leavy | Trainer: Richard Hannon | Form: 3 | Rating: 73 | Topspeed:

Duke Of Burgundy is the each-way angle. His debut third was a perfectly respectable start in the context of this race and a mark of 73 leaves him with something to find on bare figures, but he is with a yard that often brings juveniles forward sharply from first to second run. The step to 7f could be a plus as well, especially around Kempton where a bit of balance and settling ability matter. He is not as flashy on paper as some of the market principals, yet 5/1 looks fair in an 11-runner novice where plenty of these are still learning on the job. He appeals as the solid each-way punt against the unknowns. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Abrahamsen is the sensible win play: proven, highest-rated, and not burdened by a penalty. Duke Of Burgundy makes more appeal than a few shorter, unraced types for an each-way bet in a race with three places on offer. The obvious dangers are Extended Order, another winner with substance to his form, and market-watch newcomers The Monkey King and Angel Of Heaven.

18:15 – Unibet/EBF Restricted Novice Stakes (Bands C/D) (EBF Restricted Race Qualifier) (GBB Race) (Div II)

Race Details: 7f | Class 4 | Going: Standrd to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

Duidin has done more than enough to deserve cramped odds and, on the figures, this looks his race to lose. John Butler’s colt arrives off a breakthrough win, has the standout rating of 77 and is the only runner in here with genuinely solid established form. The question for punters is whether to take the short price or go looking for something less exposed against him. Havana Court is the obvious one from those with experience, while several debutants, including Singheandaprayer and Lightenings Legacy, add a layer of intrigue in a race that isn’t deep but isn’t entirely straightforward either. In truth, if Duidin runs to the level of that latest success, the rest may simply be scrapping for places.

Top Selections

1. Duidin – 8/13 with William Hill

Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa | Trainer: John Butler | Form: 381 | Rating: 77 | Topspeed: 44

There’s no great mystery here: Duidin sets the standard and sets it by some margin. The form figures of 381 tell a simple story of a juvenile learning quickly, and that rating of 77 towers over what most of these have achieved. Silvestre De Sousa is an eye-catching booking in this grade and he should be able to keep things uncomplicated from stall 6. At 8/13 he isn’t remotely a sexy price, but sometimes the obvious one is obvious for a reason. In a restricted novice lacking much depth, he looks hard to oppose if reproducing his latest effort. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Lightenings Legacy – 11/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Oliver Carmichael | Trainer: Grace Harris | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:

If you want an each-way play against the favourite, Lightenings Legacy makes a fair bit of appeal at 11/1 in a race where plenty of the exposed runners have already shown their limitations. This one comes in unraced, which means trust is required, but that can be no bad thing in a restricted event of this nature. The market has him in the mix rather than among the outsiders, and that usually tells a story in these juvenile contests. Drawn widest in 10 isn’t ideal over 7f here, but if he has any streetcraft he could easily outrun his price and nick a place. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Duidin is the win play and the one with the clearest, strongest claims on known form. For a bit of value, Lightenings Legacy is the each-way punt in a race where the favourite may simply be better than these but the places look up for grabs. Havana Court is the obvious danger if building on that debut, while Singheandaprayer is one to note among the newcomers.

18:45 – Unibet More Extra Place Races Fillies’ Handicap

Race Details: 7f | Class 5 | Going: Standrd to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

This is a proper Kempton handicap puzzle rather than a race packed with obvious certainty. The 3yo fillies get plenty of weight from the older mares and that makes the likes of Trio, Hamaleel and Show Me Gold especially interesting, while Dream Illusion and Emery Down bring solid enough recent handicap form from the older brigade. Trio has been admirably consistent and looks the most likely winner if coping with stall 13, whereas Hamaleel arrives on the back of a good second and has the profile of one still edging forward. Daisy Roots is better than her latest run and the inside draw helps, while Dream Illusion is respected despite being marooned widest of all. Tricky, competitive and very much a race where the draw and pace could decide plenty.

Top Selections

1. Trio – 5/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Charles Bishop | Trainer: Eve Johnson Houghton | Form: 13-335 | Rating: 76 | Topspeed: 65

Trio makes plenty of appeal in a race where several arrive with questions to answer. She has done little wrong in four starts since returning, her form figures of 13-335 reading well in the context of this grade, and that mark of 76 looks workable judged on the level she has been running to. The slight concern is stall 13 over this trip, but she has enough tactical pace to get involved if breaking smartly. Charles Bishop is a positive booking for this sort of test and at 5/1 she looks the one with the most solid win credentials rather than a speculative play. Bet: WIN

2. Hamaleel – 6/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Harry Vigors | Trainer: Archie Watson | Form: -12532 | Rating: 74 | Topspeed: 58

Hamaleel appeals as the each-way angle because her profile is that of a filly still learning the job and her recent second suggests she’s ready to strike again soon. She has been holding her form well, the sequence of 12532 showing consistency that is valuable in a race like this, and draw 4 is a handy spot from which to track the pace. Archie Watson’s runners are always worth respecting around here and she gets in off 74, which does not look harsh at all. At 6/1 in a 14-runner field with four places on offer, she makes plenty of sense as the safer each-way punt. Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Trio is the percentage call for the win bet, as she brings the cleanest recent form and still looks fairly treated. Hamaleel is the each-way play thanks to her consistency, decent draw and the four-place terms. The main dangers are Dream Illusion, who is in form but stuck out in 14, and Daisy Roots, who could outrun bigger odds from stall 1.

19:15 – Unibet Supporting Safer Gambling/EBF “Confined” Maiden Stakes (No More Than One Run) (GBB)

Race Details: 6f | Class 4 | Going: Standrd to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a fairly informative 2yo maiden rather than a weak summer scramble, with Tumishi and Primal bringing the two standout pieces of racecourse evidence and several once-raced or debuting types lurking behind them. Tumishi sets the bar on figures after finishing fourth and earning a mark of 80, while Primal is close behind on 76 and comes from the Andrew Balding yard, so the market has latched on to the right pair. Kigali also has a run under his belt and could step forward, while Sovereigns High is the one to note among the newcomers given the stable. Even so, this may come down to which of the principals sharpens up most from first to second start, and in that respect Tumishi appeals as the most solid option in a race that is competitive but not impossible to solve.

Top Selections

1. Tumishi – 15/8 with Betfair

Jockey: Daniel Muscutt | Trainer: James Fanshawe | Form: 4 | Rating: 80 | Topspeed:

Tumishi brings the best rating in the field and that first run already reads like the strongest bit of substance on offer here. A mark of 80 in this company makes him the obvious one to beat, and Fanshawe’s youngsters are rarely fully wound up first time, so natural improvement is very easy to expect. Daniel Muscutt is a good booking for this track and stall 2 should help him get a clean tow into the race before using that experience late on. At around 15/8 he is no giveaway, but he is the one with the fewest questions to answer and looks the percentage call. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Sovereigns High – 7/1 with Paddy Power

Jockey: Hector Crouch | Trainer: Ralph Beckett | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:

For an each-way play, Sovereigns High makes plenty of appeal at 7/1 in a race where the market may be a touch too focused on the obvious pair. Beckett is more than capable of readying a useful juvenile first time out, and Hector Crouch is exactly the sort of rider you want on a newcomer at Kempton: patient, tidy and rarely wasting ground. With several of these either looking exposed after one run or needing to improve a chunk, this one could easily prove better than the bare paper suggests. In an 11-runner maiden with three places on offer, he looks the value each-way punt. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Tumishi is the win play because he already sets the standard on an 80 rating and should know more now. For those wanting a bit more value, Sovereigns High is the each-way angle at 7/1 in a field of 11. Primal is the obvious danger to both, while Kigali is not dismissed if taking the expected second-step forward.

19:45 – Try Unibet’s New Smartview Racecards Handicap (London Mile Series Qualifier)

Race Details: 1m | Class 4 | Going: Standrd to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

This is a proper London Mile heat and, for all the exposed older handicappers in the line-up, the race may well revolve around the 3yos getting plenty of weight. Sovereign View is the obvious starting point after shaping well in stronger company, while Enemy Agent and Director’s Cut are the sort who could still have a bit to offer now switched into this series. Among the older brigade, Revelance has a touch of class for the level and Saytarr has been admirably consistent, though stall 14 is no gift around here. Arctic Thunder heads the market but comes here with less convincing recent form than a few of these. Competitive, yes, but not impossible to untangle if you trust the weight-for-age angle.

Top Selections

1. Sovereign View – 9/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Jack Callan | Trainer: James Tate | Form: 231-26 | Rating: 93 | Topspeed: 70

He makes plenty of appeal in a race like this. James Tate knows exactly what is required around Kempton and this 3yo brings the standout profile from a handicapping perspective, carrying just 8st 4lb despite already reaching a mark of 93. His 231-26 form figures suggest a colt who has been holding his own in decent contests, and that latest sixth can be marked up rather than knocked. Draw 11 is manageable if Jack Callan can slot in, and the combination of class, tactical pace and a feather weight makes 9/2 look perfectly fair. He looks the one with the strongest claims if getting a smooth trip. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Revelance – 7/1 with Paddy Power

Jockey: Hector Crouch | Trainer: Ralph Beckett | Form: 11239- | Rating: 92 | Topspeed: 55

Revelance is interesting because he has the profile of one who can be very competitive fresh enough in this grade. Ralph Beckett’s 4yo signed off last season with form figures that included two wins and a solid third before perhaps finding things happening a bit quickly on his final start. A mark of 92 is workable judged on that earlier sequence, and stall 2 is a definite plus in a race where several of the fancied runners are posted wider. Hector Crouch should be able to get him into a handy position and, at 7/1, he looks the sensible each-way play against a few with shakier current credentials. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Sovereign View is the win play on the strength of his low weight and stronger overall profile against older handicappers. Revelance is the each-way alternative from a handy draw and looks solid for the four places. The main danger is Arctic Thunder if bouncing back, while Saytarr has the form to feature if overcoming a brutal stall 14.

20:15 – Try Unibet’s New Improved Acca Boosts Handicap (London Middle Distance Qualifier) (GBBPlus Race)

Race Details: 1m 2f | Class 4 | Going: Standrd to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

This is a proper Kempton handicap rather than a gimme, with several arriving on workable marks and a few with bits of old class. Fox Avatar heads the market after a respectable reappearance, while Golden Horse is the unexposed one in a powerful yard and looks likely to be popular off just 127lb. Charmaine has been knocking on the door without getting her head in front, and Naval Command is another who could easily step forward. Assail and Metallo bring solid ratings and enough all-weather form to get involved if things fall right. In truth, it is a competitive little puzzle rather than a deep race, and the key may be which of the better-treated four-year-olds can improve again over this trip.

Top Selections

1. Golden Horse – 4/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Cieren Fallon | Trainer: William Haggas | Form: 316-4 | Rating: 99 | Topspeed:

Golden Horse makes plenty of appeal as the one with more to offer. He returned from a break with a perfectly fair fourth, and that run should have sharpened him up nicely for this. A mark of 99 does not look lenient on bare form, but Haggas is excellent at placing these middle-distance handicappers and this four-year-old still feels lightly raced for the job. Carrying just 127lb against some more exposed rivals is another plus, and 4/1 with Bet365 looks a fair enough price in a race where a few of the obvious dangers may already be fully exposed. He is the percentage call.

Bet: WIN

2. Naval Command – 7/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Hector Crouch | Trainer: Ralph Beckett | Form: /42-65 | Rating: 94 | Topspeed:

Naval Command is the each-way angle at the prices. He has not quite put it all together this term, but there was promise in last season’s placed efforts and a mark of 94 gives him room to be competitive if Beckett can coax a bit more from him. Stall 2 should suit around here, and this does not look a brutal Class 4 by Kempton standards. He is the type who could travel strongly off the pace and come through late if the race is run evenly. At 7/1 with four places on offer, he looks the sensible each-way punt against shorter-priced runners with less wriggle room.

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Golden Horse is the win play, chiefly because he still has the profile of a progressive handicapper and should come on for his comeback. Naval Command is the each-way alternative at a more forgiving price and looks capable of hitting the frame at least. The obvious dangers are Fox Avatar, who sets a solid standard, and Charmaine, who keeps threatening to land one of these.

20:45 – Bet £20 Get £20 With Unibet Handicap

Race Details: 1m 7f | Class 6 | Going: Standrd to slow (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a fairly ordinary Class 6 on paper, but not an impossible one to unravel. Balgowan brings the most persuasive recent profile after a win and a solid second, and he’s the obvious one for the shortlist despite a short enough price in a race where exposed stayers can take turns. Nelson Gate has bits of form that make him interesting if returning in the right mood, while Golden Samba could easily get involved now dropped into this grade and fitted with a handy low weight. Break Point is another who has become dangerously well treated if he can build on a couple of quiet efforts. It’s not a deep race, but there are enough plausible angles to make it more than a penalty kick for the favourite.

Top Selections

1. Balgowan – 6/4 with Bet365

Jockey: George Downing | Trainer: Seamus Mullins | Form: 74-312 | Rating: 71 | Topspeed: 48

Balgowan is the solid one here and, in a race lacking much depth, that counts for plenty. His recent form reads well for this level, with a win followed by a runner-up effort, and he’s operating off a mark of 71 that still looks manageable in Class 6 company. He stays, he arrives in form, and he doesn’t need much imagination applied to make the case. The 6/4 on offer is no giveaway, but it’s hard to oppose a horse with the clearest current profile when several of these arrive with questions to answer. He sets the standard and is the one they all have to beat. Bet: WIN

2. Golden Samba – 11/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa | Trainer: Ed de Giles | Form: 3-8437 | Rating: 66 | Topspeed: 45

Golden Samba makes some each-way appeal at a more workable price. The recent figures don’t scream certainty, but there have been enough respectable efforts in that sequence to suggest she can be competitive in a race of this nature, and a mark of 66 gives her a squeak if she settles and sees out the trip strongly. Silvestre De Sousa catches the eye in this sort of contest too, especially when riding one who doesn’t need to find masses. At 11/2, she looks the value alternative to the favourite, particularly with only seven runners and a few of the others looking either exposed or unreliable. Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Balgowan is the win play because he brings the strongest recent form and looks the most dependable stayer in the line-up. For an each-way punt, Golden Samba appeals as the one most likely to outrun her price and nick a place at least. Nelson Gate is the obvious danger if returning sharp enough after a break, while Break Point is not without place claims off this sort of mark.
