Eight races take place at Leopardstown on Sunday afternoon. Andrew’s best bet lines up in the Listed contest at 3.05pm, as Jack Channon aims to land the coveted prize.
3.05 Leopardstown – Excellent Believe (1pt win – 4/1 generally)
Excellent Believe ran as if his comeback outing was needed when third to Docklands at Doncaster in late March and looks interesting in the Amethyst Stakes at Leopardstown today. The four-year-old’s record, aside from his seasonal debuts, stands at 116122 (3-6) with the sole unplaced effort at Chester when never able to strike a blow under a patient ride. Jack Channon has a good record with his older runners, runners in Ireland, with those aged four plus winning six of their 25 starts for a profit of £44.50 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£67.86 at Betfair SP (after 2% commission). Today’s trip, track and ground look ideal, and Tom Marquand has a win and a second in Group 3 company from two previous rides on the gelding.
Ludlow Racing Tips (Sunday 10 May 2026)
Ludlow hosts a six-race card over the sticks and Andrew opts for a selection in the 3.27pm contest.
3.27 Ludlow – Sunset Boulevard (0.5pt win – 7/1 bet365, 13/2 generally)
The only other bet – and a small one at that – on a quiet day is the Venetia Williams-trained Sunset Boulevard in this 3m handicap chase. The six-year-old has hardly set the world in two starts since leaving Willie Mullins, finishing 14th of 15 and pulling up, but the subsequent wind operation offers hope. His trainer does very well with chasers on their first run following wind surgery, scoring with 18 of the 55 qualifiers (32.8%) for a profit of £62.53 at SP (expected winners = 9.58, A/E = 1.88).
