Lingfield Racing Tips (Friday 3 April 2026)
There’s a seven-race card at Lingfield, with a 2.30pm start. A plethora of Vase contests will see some competitive action take place at the track.
2.05 Lingfield – Midnite All-Weather Vase Marathon Handicap – Shrimp Shady (1pt win – 5/1)
Andrew Balding’s Shrimp Shady recorded a first win on the all-weather last time out when narrowly landing a Wolverhampton contest by a nose. Given a 2lbs rise by the handicapper for that win he looks more than capable of going in again. He appeared to relish the step up to one-and-three-quarter miles last time out, and he steps up in distance again here. He will need to improve on that run, but he’s still relatively lightly-raced and can deliver the goods once again.
2.40 Lingfield – Midnite All-Weather Vase Sprint Handicap – Mesaafi (1pt win – 14/1)
Disappointing on his last start over five furlongs, Mesaafi returns to six on Friday. Lining up in the 2.40pm contest, Ross Burdon’s charge can spring a shock. Taking his chance off bottom weight, he looks a leading player, if at his best. He was a winner off Friday’s mark of 80 earlier in his career, and with the visor returning then he has to be a huge player. Generally a consistent performer he does need to bounce back, but in this hugely competitive race he can go close.
3.50 Lingfield – BetMGM All-Weather Vase Mile Handicap – Sous La Neige (1pt win – 7/1)
Given lots to do in this race 12 months ago, Sous La Neige managed to grab second place, off a mark of 87. Well, the Gavin Hernon-trained raider, who is generally seen running in France, will return to British shores on Friday at 3.50pm looking to go one better. Now 2lbs lower, he has to be given a huge chance, if replicating last year’s run. Plenty line up with a chance, but Sous La Neige has to be in the shake-up, if at his best. Marco Ghiani takes the ride again and connections will be hoping he’s near the pace and then can utilise his turn of foot.
Newcastle Racing Tips (Friday 3 April 2026)
There are also seven races taking place at Newcastle for All Weather Championships Finals Day. We have a solitary tip for the action in the north east that runs in the finale at 4.42pm.
4.42 Newcastle – Midnite All-Weather Easter Plate Marathon Handicap – Dramatic Star (1pt win – 13/2)
William Haggas will hope a step up in trip can propel Dramatic Star into the winner’s enclosure on Friday in the 4.42pm at Newcastle. He blew the cobwebs away at Kempton last month, when lining up over an inadequate trip. However, he steps up to two miles for the final race of the card, and he looks attractively handicapped to go close. Dropped 1lb for that recent run, he looks capable of landing a blow off 93. This is a competitive contest, but plenty of his rivals lie in the handicapper’s grip, so he should be thereabouts.
