14:30 – Free Bets On attheraces.com Nursery Handicap

Race Details: 1m | Class 5 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This has the look of a tight little nursery rather than a deep one, and the late non-runner leaves just five to sort through in a race where the market principals all bring something sensible to the table. Magical Life arrives off a win and has the highest mark in the field, but that success means she is no longer lurking under the radar. Parading has been knocking on the door and looks very solid, while Pequenita is the unexposed one after only two starts and could easily have more to offer now switched into handicap company over this mile. Poppy Foxy has a recent second to recommend her too, so there are no freebies here. In truth, it looks more about who improves than who has already shown the most.

Top Selections

1. Pequenita – 2/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Oisin Murphy | Trainer: Andrew Balding | Form: 43 | Rating: 65 | Topspeed: 48

Pequenita is the one I want to be with because she is the only runner in here who still feels open to any amount of progress. A mark of 65 could prove very workable judged on her two qualifying runs, and the step up to a mile in a nursery looks exactly the right move. Oisin Murphy being booked only adds to the appeal, and Balding’s youngsters often know their job once sent into handicaps. At 2/1 she is hardly missed by the market, but she still makes plenty of appeal against exposed rivals carrying loftier ratings. Bet: WIN

Betting Strategy

With only five runners after the non-runner, this is a straight win-bet race and nothing more complicated than that. Pequenita is the percentage call as the likely improver now entering handicap company. Parading looks the obvious danger on consistency, while Magical Life is respected despite having to back up a recent win from a higher perch.

15:00 – Singapore Pools Trophy Race Restricted Maiden Stakes (Bands C/D) (GBB Race)

Race Details: 1m | Class 5 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This doesn’t look a deep maiden for the grade and the market has probably already found the right trio. Justice Court sets the standard on figures after finishing third and second in two starts, while Itica still has upside for Andrew Balding after shaping better than the bare result on her return. Rapide Vega is the obvious solid yardstick, having had plenty of chances but bringing a respectable mark of 77 and some consistent recent form. Behind those, it gets much murkier, with debutants Marchmont, Nascondino and Au Point needing to be useful straight away. Lingfield’s mile can reward track position and professionalism, so experience counts for plenty here. It’s not the strongest maiden, but it is a race where the main contenders all have slightly different strengths.

Top Selections

1. Justice Court – 6/4 with Bet365

Jockey: Saffie Osborne | Trainer: Jamie Osborne | Form: 3-2 | Rating: 79 | Topspeed: 48

Justice Court is the one to beat. He sets the clear form standard on a mark of 79, and that latest second suggests the penny is dropping. There’s no hiding place at Lingfield if you’re ungenuine or awkward, but he already looks straightforward enough and has the racecraft that some of these less exposed rivals may lack. Saffie Osborne knows how to ride this track positively and, from stall 7, she should be able to get him into a handy rhythm. At 6/4 he’s not exactly a giveaway, but in a race where several of the dangers are either guessing games or have questions to answer, he’s hard to oppose.

Bet: WIN

2. Itica – 2/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Oisin Murphy | Trainer: Andrew Balding | Form: 02-5 | Rating: 76 | Topspeed: 40

Itica makes plenty of each-way appeal, even if the price is a touch cramped for that angle. She was placed as a juvenile, returned with a fair fifth, and the Balding yard is more than capable of bringing one forward significantly from a first run back. A mark of 76 leaves her with very realistic claims in this company, and the booking of Oisin Murphy at Lingfield is never something to dismiss lightly. Drawn in 3, she should get a smooth trip and might even be the one with the most improvement left in her among the principals. If Justice Court underperforms, she looks the likeliest to capitalise.

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Justice Court is the straight win play because he has the strongest achieved form and the highest rating in the field. Itica is the each-way alternative in a 10-runner race, with enough upside and a good draw to make the frame at the very least. Rapide Vega is the obvious danger if his experience tells, while any support for the newcomers would be worth noting.

15:30 – Download The At The Races App Handicap

Race Details: 1m 7f | Class 6 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This has the look of a small-field race dominated by two obvious players, with Belle Of Kt bringing a winning sequence of four into the contest and Le Rouge Chinois arriving off a solid second for a yard that does well with this type. Animato is a non-runner, so that only thins things further and makes tactics important over this trip. Belle Of Kt has been thriving for J S Moore and is clearly the one they all have to beat, but she is no giveaway at the prices in a race where Le Rouge Chinois has the assistance of Oisin Murphy and a workable profile. Behind those two, the rest need a fair bit to fall right, so this is not the deepest Class 6 by any means, but it is still a race where the market has probably got the main shape correct.

Top Selections

1. Belle Of Kt – 10/11 with Betfair

Jockey: Millie Wonnacott | Trainer: J S Moore | Form: 731111 | Rating: 68 | Topspeed: 60

It is hard to crab a mare who has simply kept on winning, and Belle Of Kt arrives here on a four-timer after stringing together a very solid sequence in this grade. Her mark of 68 is no gift now, but she is clearly thriving and her recent form suggests she is seeing this trip out well enough to make her presence felt again. In a race lacking depth, that consistency counts for plenty. The draw in 6 is no major issue in a small field and she sets the standard on current wellbeing. At around 10/11 with Betfair, she is short enough, but still the likeliest winner if turning up in the same heart. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Le Rouge Chinois – 15/8 with William Hill

Jockey: Oisin Murphy | Trainer: Michael Appleby | Form: 081802 | Rating: 64 | Topspeed:

Le Rouge Chinois looks the sensible alternative and, in truth, the one horse most likely to give the favourite a proper race. His latest second reads well enough in this company, and an opening of 15/8 with William Hill makes some appeal if you want to take on the jolly rather than pile into her at odds-on. Michael Appleby’s runner is 4lb lower on the figures than Belle Of Kt and gets Oisin Murphy booked, which catches the eye in a race that may become tactical. He does not arrive with the same relentless momentum as the favourite, but he has enough recent evidence to suggest he can sit handy and keep finding. In a six-runner race, he is the obvious each-way play. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Belle Of Kt is the straightforward win play and deservedly heads the market after four on the bounce. If you want a bit more value, Le Rouge Chinois is the clear each-way alternative in a race that looks to revolve around the front pair. Of the others, Star Of Jupiter is the one with a squeak if the principals underperform, but this really does look a two-horse affair.

16:00 – Free Race Replays On attheraces.com Fillies’ Handicap

Race Details: 6f | Class 5 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This is only a five-runner affair but it is not completely straightforward, with the market focusing on the 3yos and that makes perfect sense. Veil Of Clouds brings the steadiest profile after a string of solid efforts and sets a fair standard for a race of this nature, while Egotistical has already shown she can win handicaps and is not one to write off after a lesser run. Dark Brunette is the interesting one from a small but select angle, still lightly raced and now returning from a disappointing effort when sent off favourite. The older mare Tronido is exposed and looks vulnerable off 76, while Bessie Wallis needs another step forward. In a race lacking depth, the one with a bit more upside is probably the one to side with.

Top Selections

1. Dark Brunette – 7/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Oisin Murphy | Trainer: Jane Chapple-Hyam | Form: 72-20 | Rating: | Topspeed:

Dark Brunette is easy enough to forgive for that latest duck egg, because her earlier efforts suggested she had a race like this in her. She was second twice before that, including on her seasonal return, and this drop into a five-runner Class 5 does not look beyond her at all. The presence of Oisin Murphy catches the eye and stall 1 should allow her to get a handy position over this 6f. She is still unexposed compared to some of these and, at 7/2, looks the one offering the best balance of upside and price. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

Betting Strategy

Keep it simple in a race this small: Dark Brunette is the win play. There is no each-way angle worth forcing with only five runners. Veil Of Clouds is the obvious danger on consistency, while Egotistical would not be a surprise if bouncing back, but the value call is to side with the less exposed Dark Brunette at the prices.

16:30 – Free Tips On attheraces.com Handicap

Race Details: 5f | Class 6 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This is a small-field 3yo sprint, but it is not quite the penalty kick the market suggests. Pure Passion brings the most persuasive recent form after a win followed by a solid second and is the obvious one to beat from a handy draw, though odds-on in a six-runner Class 6 always asks a question. Saeculamation has been knocking around in similar company and could get a nice run from stall 1, while Star Marian is better than her latest figures suggest and has the assistance of Oisin Murphy. Dusk Damsel and Mariselle need to step forward, and Mimime has plenty to prove. It looks a race where tactical speed and track position will matter plenty, with Pure Passion setting the standard but not putting it beyond argument.

Top Selections

1. Pure Passion – 5/6 with Bet365

Jockey: Jack Doughty | Trainer: Stuart Williams | Form: 43012 | Rating: 61 | Topspeed: 40

Pure Passion is hard to oppose on what these have shown so far. That recent sequence of 43012 tells its own story: a horse holding her form well, getting her head in front, and then backing it up with another good effort. She has the highest rating in the field, a fair draw in stall 2, and she looks the one most likely to cope with the tempo of a sharp 5f around here. Stuart Williams does well with this type and, while 5/6 is no giveaway in a modest little sprint, she brings the most solid profile and sets the standard. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Star Marian – 5/1 with Betfair

Jockey: Oisin Murphy | Trainer: David Loughnane | Form: -15805 | Rating: 58 | Topspeed: 48

Star Marian is the one who makes most appeal as the each-way play, especially with Oisin Murphy booked for a yard well capable of landing these sprint handicaps. Her form has been patchy, no doubt about that, but she has shown enough ability to think she can get involved in a race of this depth, and her Topspeed figure of 48 is one of the better numbers on offer here. She does need to bounce back from a couple of underwhelming efforts, yet in a six-runner contest there are not many lurking improvers and 5/1 looks fair for a filly who could easily travel better than most. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Pure Passion is the straight win play because she arrives in the best form and has fewer questions to answer than the rest. For a bit of value, Star Marian is the each-way option at 5/1, with Murphy’s booking catching the eye in a weak race. Saeculamation is the obvious danger if getting an easy lead or a smooth rail run from stall 1.

17:00 – Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap

Race Details: 1m 2f | Class 6 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a fairly ordinary Class 6, but that does not make it straightforward. Hove Ranger is the obvious starting point after a solid 3yo campaign and he arrives with the most persuasive profile in a race where several have had plenty of chances. Uzincso is the old boy of the field at 10, yet he shaped well when third last time and is more than capable of making his presence felt again if this is run to suit. Boston Run is another with a squeak now Oisin Murphy takes over, while Forca Timao has enough consistency to get involved without looking bombproof. In truth, this is the sort of handicap likely decided by tactical position and who gets the first run rather than any hidden class edge.

Top Selections

1. Hove Ranger – 9/4 with Bet365

Jockey: Rhys Clutterbuck | Trainer: Gary & Josh Moore | Form: 6-2153 | Rating: 68 | Topspeed: 51

Hove Ranger is not thrown in, but he does look the percentage call in a race lacking depth. His recent form reads better than most of these, and that latest third suggested he remains in good order at this level. The 3yo receives weight from older rivals and a mark of 68 still gives him room to be competitive, especially from stall 2 where he should get a handy enough trip around here. Rhys Clutterbuck knows him well and this yard is always dangerous in these lower-grade all-weather handicaps. At 9/4 he is no giveaway, but he is the one with the strongest claims on what we know.

Bet: WIN

2. Uzincso – 7/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Mikey Sheehy | Trainer: John Butler | Form: 74-043 | Rating: 71 | Topspeed: 55

Uzincso is hardly an unexposed secret at the age of 10, but he is running well enough to make appeal as the each-way play. His latest third was perfectly respectable in the context of this race, and his Topspeed figure of 55 stacks up well against this opposition. He does have to overcome stall 7 and top weight is never ideal around Lingfield in these tactical races, but he has the streetwise attitude for this grade and should not be far away if getting a decent tow into it. Available at 7/2, he is short enough for win-only players, yet still makes sense as the solid place alternative.

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Keep it simple here. Hove Ranger is the win bet because he has the most convincing current profile and the weight-for-age edge over his older rivals. Uzincso is the each-way option, bringing reliable recent form and competitive speed figures to the table. Boston Run is the obvious danger if Murphy can spark improvement, while Forca Timao is another who could nick a place.
