Musselburgh Racing Tips (Sunday 12 April 2026)

5.15 Musselburgh – Noche Clasica (1pt win – 7/2 bet365, William Hill)
Ed Bethell has a solid record with his Flat turf handicappers in the spring (March to May) who were returning from a break of 150 days or longer. Since the beginning of 2021, the score is 14 winners from 40 runners (35% strike-rate) for a profit of £27.38 to a £1 level stake at SP. Progressive filly Noche Clasica, well drawn in stall 1, returned from a short break to make a winning stable at Redcar last autumn, clocking a fast time in the process and clearly appreciated the faster pace on her first start outside of fillies-only company. The four-year-old scored comfortably on her sole previous run on a right-handed track and I’m not sure that current favourite Sea Force will be happy racing in this direction again as he tends to hang to his left.
5.45 Musselburgh – Velvet Whisper (1pt win – 7/2 Coral, Ladbrokes)
Velvet Whisper also qualifies on the Ed Bethell break-returners om turf in spring angle mentioned above and she too is nicely drawn (stall 2) in this 1m4f handicap. The four-year-old improved markedly for the step up to 1m2f on her second run back from a wind operation last autumn, finishing second by a neck at Redcar before wins at Nottingham (1m2f, heavy) and over today’s course and distance (1m4.5f, soft). She bolted up by four and a half lengths last time and, while softer going would have been preferable, she should get the run of the race in front.
