Andrew Mount kicked off the week with a winner on Monday and he has a brace of selections on Tuesday 30 June. He heads to Musselburgh and Salisbury for his best bets, as he looks to continue the winning run.
Musselburgh Racing Tips (Tuesday 30 June 2026)
Seven races take place at Musselburgh, with a 2.00pm start. Andrew’s best bet is a 1.5pt win selection in the 3.00pm contest.
3.00 Musselburgh – Haayimm (1.5pt win – 11/4 Sky Bet, Paddy Power, 888sport, 5/2 generally)
This 1m1f handicap looks set to be run at a sound pace thanks to the presence of habitual front-runner Two B tanned (stall 9 of 10), Dwindling Funds (stall 3) and Thunder Wonder (stall 7). I was initially tempted to side with the last-named as he had excuses when down the field at Newmarket last time – he finished third of four on the unfavoured far side group and the second best of that quartet, Mister Winston, scored at Epsom next time. However, I’m just going to save on Charlie Johnston’s four-year-old (currently 16.5 on Betfair), whose course record reads 114 (2-3), in the hope/expectation that he will sit behind the other two likely front-runners rather than go hell for leather from the outset.
The main play is Ed Bethell’s three-year-old Haayimm, a likely improver on his handicap debut. The son of Gleneagles was a winner on officially good to soft going at Pontefract on his seasonal return despite racing wider than ideal and his subsequent neck second of three to Conclave at Hamilton was a useful effort as the winner got first run and he pulled well clear of the third, Proud Nation. The winner went on to finish a solid 28-1 sixth of 30 in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot (albeit from a good draw) while the third fared second best of the closers when a 10-1 fifth at Chester. Bethell’s non-juveniles have a good record on turf when making their handicap debuts – 20 winners from 83 bets (24.1% strike-rate) for a profit of £7.07 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected wins = 14.74, A/E = 1.36), with those who started in the front two in the batting winning 15 from 34 (44.1%) for a profit of £14.57.
Salisbury Racing Tips (Tuesday 30 June 2026)
It’s a 2.07pm start at Salisbury, with Andrew’s best bet on the card lining up in the 3.37pm event.
3.37 Salisbury – Jel Pepper (0.5pt e/w – 11/ 1bet365, 10/1 Coral, Ladbrokes, Sky Bet, all paying three places)
Addison Grey is the obvious one in this 6f Class 3 handicap after his runner-up effort to subsequent Wokingham winner Double Rush on his penultimate start, though he’s now 0-3 since gelded and doesn’t appeal at odds of around 5-4. I’d rather take a chance on Jel Pepper who can have his handicap debut sixth at Windsor upgraded as he raced on the ‘dead’ inside rial that day. The first three home in that 6f 0-95 contest were drawn in stalls 9, 10 and 7 of 10 whereas Oliver Cole’s three-year-old took the inside route from stall 1. He met trouble when staying on at the business end, not the first time he has failed to find a clear passage, and today’s small field will suit. His latest win came in a field of 26 in a sales race at Newmarket, but he raced with just a handful of rivals in the centre group that day and he should be able to find daylight today.
