Naas Racing Tips (Sunday 17 May 2026)
Eight races take place at Naas on Sunday, with some attractive, competitive racing lighting up the track throughout the afternoon.
3.56 Naas – King Cuan (1pt e/w – 13/2 William Hill, 6/1 generally)
King Cuan very much caught the eye when fourth in a 5f Listed contest here last time, finishing strongly against the far side rail into fourth place in Mission Control’s race (see 5.26 preview) when all the action was near side and now returns to a more suitable trip. Paddy Twomey’s five-year-old has done all his winning over 6f-7f and is two from two at today’s venue beyond the minimum trip. Aside from seasonal debuts, his record reads 111133204 (4-9), with the ‘duck egg’ in last season’s Group 1 Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot. He’s unexposed at today’s 7f trip and has the right profile for this Listed contest, having finishing between second and fourth in a Class 1 or Class 2 event last time out (backing all 26 qualifiers since 2026 would have found seen winners – they were only represented in eight renewals in that period – for a profit of £25.63 to a £1 level stake at SP).
5.26 Naas – Moss Tucker (0.5pt e/w – 25/1 bet365, 22/1 William Hill, Unibet, 20/1 generally)
Mission Central heads the betting for the Sole Power Sprint Stakes but the odds-on favourite could be worth opposing. Aidan O’Brien’s three-year-old won another Listed contest over course and distance on April 27th but might have been flattered by the strong draw bias that day. It was a huge advantage to challenge down the near side, and he was well drawn in stall 14 of 15 (once adjusted for the non-runner). Runner-up Likedbymike (stall 13), who re-opposes today, was also well berthed and I want to side with one of the other beaten horses, Moss Tucker. Ken Condon’s veteran, poorly drawn in stall 2 on that occasion, was reappearing after a 555-day absence that day, and clearly needed the run, weakening into a 33-1 tenth of 15. He was beaten by less than five lengths, and his course record reads 1210 (2-4), with the runner-up effort in this race in 2023.
