Seven races take place at Naas on Wednesday, with the action kicking off at 5.10pm. Andrew has a brace of selections for the action at the Irish track.
6.10 Naas – Gavoo (1.5pt win – 4/1 bet365, 7/2 generally)
The form of Invincible Will’s victory in a 7f handicap at the Curragh on May 23rd is working out well, with the eight horses to make it to the track since recording form figures of 14352201 (2-8). Runner-up Zenford and seventh-placed Unauthorized were the subsequent winners and David Marnane’s Gavoo, sent off as the 4-1 favourite at the that day, was just a length and a half behind the last-named in ninth of 13 when never able to strike a blow from off the pace. The small field is of some concern in this 6f rated race, but he arrives here with the best last time out speed figure and rates a strong bet.
6.40 Naas – La Fogata (1pt win – 10/1 Sky Bet, Paddy Power, 9/1 generally)
La Fogata was porgressive on a sound surface for Ger Lyons last season and made a very encouraging start for Donnacha O’Brien when a three-quarters of a length 18-1 runner-up in Listed company over today’s course and distance. The drop down from an extended 1m2f to 1m found her out in the same grade at Navan next time but she still clocked a good speed figure according to Proform’s ratings and was beaten by less than two lengths. She’s up in class to Group 3 company but looks the value play now returned to this course and distance.
