New Bond Street sets the standard on what he showed when fifth on debut, bringing the best mix of rating and topspeed in the line-up, while Aidan O’Brien’s pair Man’s Best Friend and Ile De France give the Ballydoyle camp two obvious shots at the prize. Anglesea Bridge also has a fair bit of appeal after shaping with promise first time, and Muscogee Nation is one of the more interesting newcomers in opposition to the established form. The draw could play its part over a sharp 5f, but this still feels like a race where class and natural speed should sort it out rather than pure luck. Four Blondes and Flaming Rib are seasoned operators in this grade, but both arrive with something to prove, and there are a few lurking off lower weights if the pace collapses. Ben Coen is exactly the sort you want on one at a price in a sprint handicap, and 14/1 feels a fair bit bigger than his chance if things fall right. He doesn’t need huge improvement to hit the frame and could easily outrun those odds.
